Airlines to passenger - Change T-shirt or ELSE
Southwest Airlines makes Florida man change T-shirt or else

Southwest Airlines said it plans to apologize to a Florida passenger after an employee forced him to change out of a sexually suggestive T-shirt or risk getting thrown off the plane.

The incident Sunday in Columbus, Ohio, came after Southwest Airlines created a public uproar by telling a woman on a flight in July that her outfit was too revealing for her to fly.

Largo resident Joe Winiecki said he was sitting in the last row of a Columbus-to-Tampa flight when an employee told him he had to change his T-shirt, turn it inside out or get off the plane.

The shirt, bought in the Virgin Islands, uses sexual double entendre to promote a fictional fishing tackle shop. The largest lettering reads "Master Baiter."

Winiecki argued that the airline was violating his right to free speech but changed rather than risk getting kicked off the flight and missing a day of work.

5. LOL - "Master Baiter"
He's good at baiting fish is my read.

The nanny-nerd at the airline that turned this into an 'incident' is a pathetic dirty-minded IDIOT!

I'm glad to hear that SW Airlines apologized. There's nothing 'here' (except STUPIDITY on the part of the self-proclaimed "nanny's" of the world - who are probably into 'bath-room stall foot-tapping themselves :eyes: sheesh!)

6. That's clearly a case of projection.
Edited on Sat Oct-06-07 12:27 AM by TahitiNut
Only people who know what masturbation means can read that and be offended ... by what's in their own heads. A naive child able to read would read it literally and get absolutely nothing from it. An adolescent might snicker. That's what adolescents do.

I'm glad our airlines personnel have all the planes running on time, all the baggage handled properly, all the planes safe and in good repair, and plenty of people working so nobody is overstressed and everyone has enough downtime. That MUST be the case if they can invest their attention to such mindless trivia.

As our culture becomes more and more authoritarian, we're about to have the Stanford Prison Experiment on a national scale. Too bad there's nobody to step in and stop it.

20. BUSHIT
Remember the woman who received a ticket for that bumper sticker? The cop contended that it was profanity. IIRC, the judge understood that it was a matter of projection of what the cop thought that it said and dismissed the ticket.

In some ways, I feel as though we are already living the Stanford Prison Experiment on a national scale.

8. ooooo, I wanna have them do that to me
I would calmly, and I would make sure not just the 'fundie' stew was present, look them squarely in the eyes, smile and say "Please remove me from the plan or prevent my boarding because of my attire. PLEASE! Then tomorrow when my attorneys talk to your employers attorneys, you will have made me a most happy man!"

but, oh welllll I so rarely travel that I might as well buy a Lotto ticket instead, same odds.

10. Flying Has Gone To The Dogs
or maybe I should say the slobs. It used to be people were dressed nicely on planes. No one boarded in flip flops, shorts, t-shirts or tank tops.

Ironically, one airline that I think had a lot to do with changing that was Southwest. Back in the early 1970's when all the other airlines had their stewardesses in suits, Southwest had them in hot pants - looking more like cheerleaders or majorettes than flight attendants.

And regarding the way people dress on planes now, it used to be we were treated with dignity when we flew. Now we're packed like sardines into metal tubes and ignored for hours at a time. And that's not even taking into account all the airport security hassles.

32. Well....
I have traveled quite extensively, and hate to dress up for a trip that basically makes me tired, uncomfortable and feeling like a pretzel. My feet swell on trips, I can't put my feet to the floor (I'm short) and at the end of a +5 hour trip I'm ready to call it quits.

I prefer therefore, to dress as comfortably as possible, find something to relieve the pain in my legs, wear flip-flops, sit at the aisle, and general do anything I can think of in order to get through the flight. I drink only water on-board, bring my own pillow and throw, and put something in my backpack that I can raise my feet enough to keep me from going stark raving mad.

If I had to wear shoes, dresses or pantsuits, or any other "proper" dress, I would give up traveling completely because I would find hell on earth in an airplane. Because I can travel with some comfort in my attire, I can get around easier, and thankfully, I have been able to see more.

And I'm disabled as well, so any tiny bit of relief I get that doesn't punish me in the end is greatly appreciated! :)

17. If it were political, sure but here are some examples (language)
"Slavery gets shit done"
"Thousands of my potential children died on your daughters face last night.."
"Swallow, or its going in your eye..."

Sure you CAN wear these in public. But you are an asshole if you do.

If I owned a business and someone whore that in as a customer I would bounce them, employee, fire them.

An airplane is different because the people around you are CAPTIVE. They cant leave.

"We reserve the right to refuse service" still applies.

18. Has This Country Gone Completely Insane?
Vet wearing t-shirt is protesting

This afternoon, drinking a cup of coffee while sitting in the Jesse Brown V.A. Medical Center on Chicago’s south side, a Veterans Administration cop walked up to me and said, "OK, you’ve had your 15 minutes, it’s time to go."

"Huh?", I asked intelligently, not quite sure what he was talking about.

"You can’t be in here protesting," officer Adkins said, pointing to my Veterans For Peace shirt.

"Well, I’m not protesting, I’m having a cup of coffee," I returned, thinking that logic would convince Adkins to go back to his earlier duties of guarding against serious terrorists.

Flipping his badge open, he said, "No, not with that shirt. You’re protesting and you have to go."

Beginning to get his drift, I said firmly, "Not before I finish my coffee."

He insisted that I leave, but still not quite believing my ears, I tried one more approach to reason. "Hey, listen. I’m a veteran. This is a V.A. facility. I’m sitting here not talking to anybody, having a cup of coffee. I’m not protesting and you can’t kick me out."

"You’ll either go or we’ll arrest you," Adkins threatened.

"Well, you’ll just have to arrest me," I said, wondering what strange land I was now living in.

It's not about where you are.

27. I had a Southwest pilot comment on my "Re-defeat Bush" T-Shirt in '04
Said something like "They never give up" to the flight attendant next to him as I boarded. I said, "No, we don't." and headed to my seat without further incident.

He was wearing a flag for a tie.

29. In your case Political Speech
I would be right pissed off if you were bounced. The pilot has absolute authority (most people dont know) and can remove a passenger at will.

However wearing a shirt that says "I Fucked Lindsey Lohan", may not be appropriate for spam in a can.

Seems reasonable for them to ask him to change.
