I think John McCain may make a comeback and win the Republican nomination
Edited on Sat Oct-06-07 10:47 AM by Quixote1818
The latest Gallup poll has him moving up to third just behind Thompson. Rudy dropped and Romney has almost dropped off the map.

I get the impression Republicans are looking at Rudy, Thompson and Romney and not liking what they are seeing. They then think of McCain as someone who is actually more in line with most Republicans than Rudy and Romney and think that he is someone who might do well in a National Election. Thompson is just falling flat as a pancake and has no chance.

I really think McCain could make a comeback and win.

Here is a video from Gallup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bp_L_RqfmLE&mode=user&search=

1. You just might be right.
Rudy, Mitt, and the hapless Fred all seem so hopeless. Who does that leave?

5. I think this is more likely if the religious right runs a third-party candidate.
Rudy is the front-runner here. The religious right is trying to take votes away from Rudy (and Thompson, as well) to prevent him from winning the nomination. Thompson can't even get a receptive crowd to applaud him, plus he's uninformed about the major political issues. He'll sink faster than Romney. That leaves McCain sitting pretty.

He really could win it.

7. Not one is likeable
It is like staring at leftovers in a fridge and your hand gliding from one to the other, seeing the mold as if for the first time yet letting it stay there for yet another choice session when the GOP stomach rumbles for something besides a Democrat.

10. I'ts possible--but unlikely. He's probably the most reasonable, except for the war.
I would trust him more than Rudy, Fred or Mittens. At least McCain wouldn't allow torture--sad that I even have to say that, really.

11. He's the only logical candidate on the Republican side.
The only one with any chance at all to win in the General.

Hopefully, he'll fail to get nominated.

But I agree, he may pull it off.

Either way, 2008 is ours. I just want our side to have coattails.

12. He did such a great job of covering up Abramoff before 2004. They owe him one.

He sold his soul to save Bush from destruction in 2004. If Satan picks Presidents, he's a shoo-in!

McCain is a dead horse and will get slaughtered by the Democrat he is running against.

15. I agree that race is wide open. I hope McCain doesn't win because
he could really run a great campaign. Let's cross our fingers and our toes that he doesn't run up the middle and get the nomination. In the last few weeks he seems to have tempered his warmonger message. If he sticks with this war and this surge..I don't believe he can win.

17. Thompson!
He would be asking for applause during the debates while his family members in the audience, suck on diaphragms.
