While surfing for more information on the Rush Limbaugh "Phony Soldiers" story, I came across this curiosity:
<snip>
(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Norm Coleman (Minn.), the only Republican senator to criticize conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh - and who faces a 2008 challenge for his seat from
failed liberal talk radio host Al Franken - warned against government regulation of talk radio on Thursday.

I found it odd that the writer felt the need to take a gratuitous swipe at Franken in a manner that made no sense. One could argue that Air America has had its problems, but they still exist, and Franken was in no way a failure at his show. In fact, he quit of his own accord when he decided to run for Wellstone's old seat. And I wouldn't even bother mentioning this little story, except that last night On The McLaughlin Group, Tony Blankley also took a swipe at Franken.
During the "predictions round" at the end of the show, Blankley predicted that Minnesotans were not enamored with Franken and that his bid to the seat would fail. And I'm sittin there wondering, why all this Franken BS all of a sudden? Turns out Franken has out fund-raised Norm Coleman, AGAIN, and the RW is hoping for another Dem to knock off Franken in the primary so they have a better shot at keeping the seat for Coleman.

From RedState:
The graphic comes from this Brian Maloney story, which goes through how Franken has outraised Norm Coleman in the race for Coleman's Senate seat but has been burning through cash (in part because Franken still has a serious primary opponent, wealthy trial lawyer Mike Ciresi) to the point where Coleman has twice as much cash on hand, $5 million to $2.45 million.
The result:
Republicans gloated that while Franken burned more than $1 million in the second quarter, a recent Minnesota Poll gave him only a 27 percent favorable rating, compared with 52 percent for Coleman, who faces his first reelection test next year.
H/T HotAir. Coleman's is one of the Senate seats we need to hold in 2008; hopefully, he will get some help from this sort of bumbling by one of his potential opponents.

And from Radio Equalizer:
At the rate he's burning through campaign contributions, Al Franken's dot.com-esque Air America Radio tenure may appear downright thrifty by comparison. Why can't our friend Stuart hang on to a buck or two for any length of time?
With the latest fundraising totals for Minnesota's US Senate race now released to the public, mainstream media outlets have focused on the fact that Franken took in more money than incumbent Norm Coleman (R-MN). Thanks, Hollywood!
Buried in the coverage, however, is a more important piece of information: Coleman remains the cash leader because he knows how to hang on to his money, while Franken continues to blow his wad.

I guess it's just gonna gall the hell out of the RW if Franken becomes a United States Senator. And I think we may have moved from stage two to stage three on the Gandhi-O-Meter!!!
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you,
then they fight you, then you win.
