Seattle woman facing debt from cancer treatment advertises for north-of-border mate with benefits


Seattle–The personal ad begins as they all do.

She tells a bit about herself, describes a bit about the man she wants to meet, the usual quirky bit about not minding baldness and then the kicker: Only Canadians need apply.

Jeanne Sather wrote her personal ad for a husband initially as a joke, a poke at what she considered a serious and frankly life-threatening issue.

For nine years she has fought breast cancer and the slow decline of her bones and body. There are times when she feels fine, but always pressing against her is the fight she cannot win. Her life savings are draining away as she pays higher and higher medical bills.
