Help me out, OK? Why would someone post crosses aimed at my home?
Edited on Tue Oct-09-07 01:09 PM by Hepburn
I have a not so nice, rather stupid, supposedly Christian neighbor.... and today I look outside when I got up and she has crosses in her windows, only on my side of her house, pointed at my house.

Anyone got any clues why?

The only thing I can think of is that I practice Wicca ... so maybe she has something against me?

Is there some Christian ritual going on here???

...have a huge Pentagram around my neck, and while carrying my caldron, drop over and offer her something to drink which is foaming out of a cup...and then ask her to talk.

Whadda ya think?

Acually and seriously...is there anyone out there that knows why this nut job would take a cross that looks like it is from palm sunday and some other crosses and festoon the side of her house facing me?

Is there some wacko Christian ritual about which I have no clue? Thought I had seen everything until this....and I find it rather insulting, too.

60. Put on the robe, make sure they are watching, then
take small amounts of flour up to the edge of their property, throw small amounts up in the air, and keep your lips moving.

Turn around three times (for some reason that drive them nuts) do the sign of the cross backwards, and walk slowly backwards back to your home.

...they are kinda spaced like that on one side only.

And....all her windows and doors towards me are filled with crosses today...and NO other window in her house has a thing it in except mimi blinds.

In her kitchen window that is directly across from mine...she has her palm cross tied on the OUTSIDE of her mini blinds and the blind down.

It is really, really odd...to say the least.

33. My kids had a babysitter when they were little
I was picking up the kids one day and there was a priest there when I got there. There were crucifixes over all the windows and doors, and all of her antique furniture was in the yard in a bonfire.
The explanation? The demons used the antique furniture as portals into her home...so she had to destroy the furniture. She had to put the crucifixes over the doorways to keep them from re-entering as they were burned out of their homes. The priest was busily putting holy water everywhere and chanting.
Needless to say, that was my last "experience" with her as a babysitter.:scared:

really give us christians a bad name. Not all of us are like that. I am a firm believer that an individual should be allowed to live their life in the way they choose. It is not my place to judge anyone. I love everyone! Especially those that are different from me because it widens my view of things and a broader view is always good IMHO.

Sorry about your neighbor, I will pray for her LOL.

She is protecting herself from the evil witches.

Ignore it, ignore her.

She thinks of her crosses in the same way you think of say...a circle of salt or a consecrated circle.

Or better yet:

Hang a few pentacles in the window facing her house, add a couple candles beneath them and you can relish in the thoughts of her in a panic, convinced you are cursing her.

Don't let it get to you too much. Ignorance is a powerful thing.

Unfortunately we are the biggest religion that is completely acceptable to be offensive, bigoted and openly discriminatory to. When I hear other religions cry "discrimination" over every little thing I have to laugh and I have the urge to tell them all to toughen the hell up.

I take comfort in knowing it will not always be this way.

Unless you think her crosses have some power over you I would not be concerned about them.

Her attitudes and fear may be another matter though. As an atheist I can only suggest that the single greatest thing you can do to undermine her fears is to show her that you are not what she thinks you are ie evil.

Couple of years ago when our grandson was about 6 we took him trick or treating. A woman came to the door at one house and instead of giving him candy, proceeded to lecture us about celebrating a pagan holiday and how Halloween was symbolic of the anti christian sentiments of the majority of US citizens. She tried to give him some goofy religio wacko comic book but he threw it in her garbage can as he walked down her walk. Funny thing there was three or four other ones in there.

I'm sure she has no idea that such beliefs actually stem from ancient pagan religions and crossed over into Christianity.

One year at a gathering in VA a local minister got onto the site. I am not sure what he planned to do there, but he was carrying a handgun. He wasn't there to murder us, as you might assume.

He had the gun because he was SO afraid of us that he felt he had to bring it to defend himself. Defend himself against people who are generally extremely peaceful unless we are defending ourselves. Our creed is "Harm None" (micro-version).

The upside of the story is that after arresting him the local sheriffs dept volunteered their off time to guard the gates in shifts. The sheriff himself brought his family the next day to take a tour. He came back later that night to check out the naked bonfire dancing and seems rather taken with the whole idea.

64. You know....
...the basics I live by are:

1. Do NO harm; and

2. The Rule of Three.

Why in the world does she think she needs protection from me? IMO, she would be beter off aiming crosses at frauds like Benny Hinn who cheat old people out of theie SS when he says he can cure their ills.

Very cool that LE came back to protect you. I just do NOT understand where some can believe in good things that are in their Christian spirit world, but think that any other spirit world is all bad.

To each his own...I have no fear of Christianity...why would a Christian fear me?

Have a nice, big ol' Wiccan party/ritual right in your backyard.

It's part of your religion, yes?

Yeah, that's probably it. I imagine some of our neighbors would be a little weirded out if they realized my wife was a witch. There have been subtle clues, but, then again, living in a predominantly African-American neighborhood, the dynamic is a bit different. White Christians tend to be FAR more obnoxious about it most of the time.

80. There's probably nothing you can do about it.
And from what my wife has told me, it's not altogether negative. Hispanics and folks from the Carribean tend to be VERY respectful of witches in general. They may be fearful, but they're not likely to come burning a cross on your front lawn or something like that.

It could be worse.

Gorgyles, SLYKICKS!! They are dorksided. It was sad to see someone so filled with whatever you call how she feels. That was her religiosity, but on a maternal note, I hope the family is doing OK after the death of her older daughter.

72. Flag her down next time you see her...
... and mention that she has some Christianity leaking out of her house, and that she had better fix it before it rots the soul!

I would suggest, on a more serious level, that you buy a bunch of these and put them in all of your windows facing her house!

http://www.evolvefish.com/fish/stickers-ss9.html

She's probably trying to convert you. I guess you're suppose to open your window one way, perhaps to clean them, then spy the crosses on the window and be spontaneously filled with the love of Jesus. Or sumptin'.

:eyes:

This one might work well, too... :-)

I love the suggestions you have been given and I also agree that a true Christian would not be afraid of anyone practicing Wicca. A lot of people have never heard of Samhain.

I don't understand people like your neighbor. She is a shining example with what's wrong with the country today.

77. I get the feeling she is apolitical....
...and just mega stupid, but a nasty person underneath. She is just so mean looking when I see her outside talking to other people. A scowl on her face and her face is all twisted.

Kind of like she has a boat load of hatred inside her.

84. Another thought: cast a Circle of Protection
Can they be permanent?

Which Wiccan path do you follow, anyway? That may give you some clues as to what you should do that is consistent with your own personal beliefs...

(I've lived with a Wiccan for several years now. *I* know there's nothing at all to be afraid of from you, but hey, *you* gotta protect yourself...)

When she's had enough time to actually eat some, call her and ask if she's seen your ring with a pentagram on it. Tell her the last time you saw it was when you took it off to make the bread. ;)

Edited to say: Whoops! I think I meant pentacle instead of pentagram. Actually, either one would work.

90. A friend once hung a faux voodoo doll in the window facing an obnoxious neighbor....
...just to give the old bat a thrill. It worked.

As to why crosses? Don't you have any Wiccan/Pagan friends who like to display symbols of their religion around the house? As to why so many aimed at you? All it is is a kind of "circle of protection" -- she also may have sprinkled holy water at the boundaries while you weren't looking. So what? She's clearly operating from a place of fear and ignorance.

I really like some of the ideas here though -- they made me laugh. How about posting this sign: My Goddess Gave Birth to Your God.

Good luck, enjoy your Samhain, and blessed be!

Hekate
