Poll question: ROUND 6--Who do you NOT want to see get the Democratic nomination?
I cannot edit a poll to let you know that another round is coming. I WILL POST AT THE END OF EACH THREAD WHEN A NEW ROUND BEGINS. Thanks for getting Round 5 to the greatest page...now, let's do it with Round 6 AND THANKS, EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP:

UPDATE: Round 1--Hillary was eliminated by a strong majority of 61%---Round 2--Dennis was eliminated with a plurality of 33%----Round 3--Mike was eliminated with a majority of 54%--Round 4 Results-- Barack Obama was eliminated with a plurality of 44%

ROUND 5 Results: Joe Biden is eliminated with a plurality of 40%

THREE CANDIDATES REMAIN: Again, the reminder: I'm going to post a poll asking you to vote for the person you LEAST desire to get the Democratic nomination for POTUS. The winner (who will actually be the loser) will be dropped from the list, and I'll post another poll with that candidate's name removed. I will repeat the process, until, by elimination, one candidate is "chosen" by those participating.

Remember vote for the one you DON'T want to get the nomination. I'd appreciate if you will keep this kicked. I'm doing an experiment. The candidates are presented in alphabetical order.

Of those remaining who do you want to eliminate from getting the nomination? Again, in alphabetical order:

7. Instead of endless rounds of polls
I think it's pretty clear that there's a sizeable contingent of DUers who would rather not vote or vote 3rd party rather than see HRC get the nod. Why not just come out front with it? Isn't that the point?

11. Well, HRC got out in the very first round,
so I can't see that being the point. I don't know what his angle is in ranking candidates by unacceptability rather than by preference, but it's interesting.

12. No, I don't think that's the point.
I think the point is something about the candidate we find least offensive and whether or not THAT might not be the best candidate.

15. No. Not quite. Because, I don't think that most DUers
would not vote for Hillary in the General Election. And, if you don't want to participate, that's OK. Your comment, too, helps me. Thanks.

17. Well, the first post got around 95 votes after an hour...
the ones hitting the greatest page go faster. Plus, it some it seems that the percentages weren't changing much after the first 15 minutes or so. I just kind of "gut check" it. If the percentages are very close, then I'll leave them up longer. Thanks.

22. I agree....When the Constitution was first adopted...
there were no President/VP tickets. The winner was president, and the second place finisher was vice-president. I'm not sure we did the country a favor by doing away with that.

I am going to run one more poll after this series, though, and then give my interpretation of the results, and the point behind running these polls.

36. Borda Count
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borda_count

Basically you rank your choices in order, and each one gets point in reverse order.

So if you say had five candidates, you'd choose one as first, and he'd get 5 points, second would get 4, third would get 3. Same for everyone who votes.

Then the one with the most votes wins. So you have to have a general high popularity in order to win. In other words it will elect a person more broadly liked. It would basically make it tough for people to play to their bases, because they'd have to appeal to everyone at least a little bit.

We did it to pick my daughter's name ;)

Post information about candidates on a web page and in papers, the next day start lightning round eliminations. No money exchanges hands, no POLITICAL COMMERCIALS weeee!, last one standing wins.

29. What is interesting is where do the candidates supporters go once their candidate bites the dust?
I ran a thread that asked for people to name their second choice if their candidate were to drop out, and with the few responses I got there were some clear directional lines that could be drawn.

That would be a fairer race. but would cost millions.

44. Looking at this through my weird looking glass Dodd & Richardson stay--Edwards goes
I like Edward's positions on the issues but I seriously question his experience and judgment when it came to the Iraq war. He's never run anything big and only spent one term in the Senate.

Dodd & Richardson have not set the political world on fire but both have solid experience.

We're hiring a president here folks, someone who can clean up the mess that eight years of Bush have left.

Kucinich is unelectable, Obama would be a great VP candidate and the rest are simply unacceptable for me.

I'm a lifelong enthusiastic Democrat going back to voting for JFK in grade school. If Gore isn't the nominee, I'm ready to say the hell with it!!!
