An innocent woman on Death Row in Texas
I believe the Innocence Project is involved with this or they are at least considering it. This was such a severe miscarriage of justice.
You really have to wonder WHY the prosecutors are vigorously fighting the DNA tests on this one and have from the start.
Plainly and simply, Darlie Routier was prosecuted for the crimes of Susan Smith.

3. I don't get why the DA's office opposes the DNA testing...
If the DNA is Darlie Routier's then it won't free her, however, if it is someone else's DNA, then another person left that print, and that's reasonable doubt, and she should be freed, or at least given a new trial.

5. Because if the DNA doesn't match - that means that they made a mistake and they can't handle that

7. I think the rules have to change...
Appeals that ask for exculpatory evidence to be examined should be automatically approved, the DA's office shouldn't even have to be informed, much less involved.

6. This happened right on the heels of the Susan Smith debacle
FROM THE START, she was painted as the one who did it.
There were many things that could not have happened...evidence that wasn't turned over...jurors being shown partial evidence...During the trial, the news outlets showed the "silly string" tape. But even they didn't show the entire thing. The jurors were only shown what appeared to be a callous showing of emotion by Routier. HOWEVER, when the jurors were shown the ENTIRE tape, many said they never would have cast a guilty vote. Her first attorney could show reasonable doubt because she and her husband were having marital problems and he allegedly had attempted to hire a hit man to kill her. He was being paid for by the husband and he fired him. Her new attorney(who was paid for by her husbands family), imho, was doing everything he could to keep the heat off of him, and that included throwing her to the wolves.

8. Perhaps reputation of failed labs or withholding 24 years of evidence in a warehouse? n/t
