And the Nobel Peace Prize goes to ... Al Gore?

The World Conservation Union (IUCN) has announced that it notes with pleasure news reports that climate change campaigners have been nominated for this year's Nobel Peace Prize.

Although the five-member Norwegian Nobel Committee does not name nominees, it is understood that former US. .Vice President Al Gore and Canadian Inuit campaigner Sheila Watt-Cloutier are both up for the prestigious award.

Al Gore raised awareness about global warming with his book and Oscar-winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, and Sheila Watt-Cloutier highlighted how global warming affects Arctic communities.

"There has never been a more opportune moment to recognize the work individuals do to raise awareness about climate change and encourage the world to face up to this grave danger," said IUCN's Director General Julia Marton-Lefèvre. "We know that the Norwegian Nobel Committee will have many talented and outstanding candidates to choose from, but we hope that they will take this opportunity to recognize those doing their best to save our precious planet."

The winner, who will be announced in Oslo on Friday, October 12

5. I hope they will both share the prize...
And it will be instrumental in Mr. Gore's three year plan to awaken the moral conscience of this country and planet regarding this crisis.
