1. He is not Hillary and
he is not Obama.

Neither is he is not Gore, whom I would support to the utmost if he entered.

BUT he speaks ti the core values of fighting for the under and middle class with his experience and heart.

4. Okay, that's a couple of votes for, I think, sincerity
You believe him when he says he cares.

5. He sounds more sincere in his values than any of the others
He speaks for middle class America even though he doesn't have to.

I didn't become an Edwards supporter overnight, I watched and listened to the candidates and paid attention to their views on various issues. Edwards came the closest candidate to what I desired.
At one time I considered Hillary a great choice but she lost me because most of the time, she says so much without saying anything at all.

6. I'm not a die-hard, since I wasn't a big fan of his in 2004, but
I like the way he stands up for working people. And I agree with him about "corporate democrats" being republicans-lite (bad paraphrase, sorry).

He just seems sincere to me, like he really, truly believes what he is saying. And I think Elizabeth would be an amazing First Lady.

7. I'll throw this into my own thread even though I'm not decided yet
Someone once told me that her brother hates trial lawyers, but he knew John Edwards, had worked with him, and just loved the guy. That was a good testimonial I think.

10. It was time to hear something positive
esp. when I haven't made up my mind.

I did the other three frontrunners as well.

9. My support dates from the first time I saw him speak
in a town of about 9,000 in northeastern Iowa in December 2003. A 60-ish woman most Iowans would describe as a "farm wife", not someone automatically command a lot of respect, asked JE a question. He listened to her entire question, listened so intently, he was listening with his whole body. In that moment I knew, and remain convinced in all the times since that I've heard him speak, that he is a candidate who truly hears and cares about those whom he would represent. I've had a chance to tell him in person about something affecting me, and his response let me know that he did want to do something so others don't have to worry about my concern.

(An aside: I wrote about this concern to each candidate, Democratic and Republican, to see how their policies would help people in my position: I got a reply written by a person from Kucinich, a form letter of talking points from Romney, no reply from anyone else.)

His ideas and proposed solutions are always well thought out and usually are put together before the other candidates. Health care would be the prime example of this. He was talking specifics and costs and how to pay for it before the others.

His trial lawyer experience helps him get the broad and deep knowledge he needs quickly. He has fought the huge corporations that now control our lives and won against them.

He emphasizes not just what government needs to do for the people, but what people can/should do for the country. I believe his emphasis on personal responsibility can appeal to voters who might otherwise believe that the repugs have the lock on that. Edwards believes in a level playing field so that all who are willing to work can have their share of the pie.

11. It took me a long time to come to Edwards
Here is what drew me to him. His unswerving love and RESPECT for his wife. He loves and accepts that she is a strong woman. His over all respect for people of all levels, no matter their position in society. His work ethic, I have never seen a man work so hard for a job he may not get. His respect for other peoples money, he could have phoned in his campaign in Iowa, and bought TV ads, but he is out there everyday busting his butt meeting the people. He has good solid ideas, ideas that he has implemented on a small scale in the last few years to see if they really will work. He has been preparing and planning for this.

This campaign doesn't seem like a whim or cake walk to him. Just as he fought for the little guy in his cases, he seems to be taking that same energy to fight for the little guy in this country. I think he truly believes that the American dream can be available to every person. And when he took the shovel and started working in New Orleans, it looked like he knew what he was doing.....that he would be ready and willing to roll up his shirt sleeves to try and dig this country out of Bush's mess.
