For OPERATIONMINDCRIME

It may be a while before OMC comes on back here to share more of what and how he, the boys, and the family and friends are doing.

Meanwhile, let's surround him with love.

Please join at this link in in offering words and/or pictures of support.

2. Valediction Forbidding Mourning. -- John Donne

As virtuous men pass mildly away,
And whisper to their souls, to go,
Whilst some of their sad friends do say,
"The breath goes now," and some say, "No:"

So let us melt, and make no noise,
No tear-floods, nor sigh-tempests move;
'Twere profanation of our joys
To tell the laity our love.

Moving of th' earth brings harms and fears;
Men reckon what it did, and meant;
But trepidation of the spheres,
Though greater far, is innocent.

Dull sublunary lovers' love
(Whose soul is sense) cannot admit
Absence, because it doth remove
Those things which elemented it.

But we by a love so much refin'd,
That ourselves know not what it is,
Inter-assured of the mind,
Care less, eyes, lips, and hands to miss.

Our two souls therefore, which are one,
Though I must go, endure not yet
A breach, but an expansion,
Like gold to airy thinness beat.

If they be two, they are two so
As stiff twin compasses are two;
Thy soul, the fix'd foot, makes no show
To move, but doth, if the' other do.

And though it in the centre sit,
Yet when the other far doth roam,
It leans, and hearkens after it,
And grows erect, as that comes home.

Such wilt thou be to me, who must
Like th' other foot, obliquely run;
Thy firmness makes my circle just,
And makes me end, where I begun.

6. Dueling threads.
:)

116.

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

William Shakespeare

4. The Tide Rises, the Tide Falls
The Tide Rises, the Tide Falls

The tide rises, the tide falls,
The twilight darkens, the curlew calls;
Along the sea-sands damp and brown
The traveler hastens toward the town,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

Darkness settles on roofs and walls,
But the sea, the sea in darkness calls;
The little waves, with their soft, white hands
Efface the footprints in the sands,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

The morning breaks; the steeds in their stalls
Stamp and neigh, as the hostler calls;
The day returns, but nevermore
Returns the traveler to the shore.
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

9. It's good that OMC felt
he could share this most difficult & life-altering experience with DU. He did it so openly and so eloquently. I'm not sure I could trust strangers that much. But he knew he needed help and he asked for it. A test of any real support group. And DU came through for him & I'm sure will continue to do so.

I hope that he can continue to draw some strength from those who have responded to his situation. There is probably not one among us who hasn't felt that profound sense of loss and questioning that he is going through. It is especially resonating with those who have had a loved one cruelly snatched away as if overnight. He had no time to "get used to it." No time at all. There is a thin veil between this world and the next. And sometimes those we love just suddenly walk through it without us.

10. Hi, OMC *hugs* I lost my mom almost three years ago and just wanted to tell you that
it does get better. I still cry sometimes because I miss her, but other times I can feel her with me, especially outside. She's in the wind and in the sunshine and clouds and I just feel very comforted to be out there with her.

I hope that you can find a circumstance like that which helps you to feel close to your wife. It may be a while before you do. It took a long time of mourning before I was able to feel something other than sadness when thinking about my mom, but I hope that you eventually will find that sense of peace and companionship too.

13. Hear Emily:

You cannot make Remembrance grow
When it has lost its Root—
The tightening the Soil around
And setting it upright
Deceives perhaps the Universe
But not retrieves the Plant—
Real Memory, like Cedar Feet
Is shod with Adamant—
Nor can you cut Remembrance down
When it shall once have grown—
Its Iron Buds will sprout anew
However overthrown—
