GORE ADVISOR: He's Not A Candidate YET- "Sometime later than today"
Edited on Wed Oct-10-07 10:38 PM by kpete
Advisers: Gore not a candidate, yet

By ALAN FRAM, Associated Press Writer
Wed Oct 10, 6:00 PM ET

Longtime political aide Roy Neel, who runs Gore's office in Nashville, Tenn., said the former vice president is focusing on prompting action against global warming. He said he has seen no signs Gore is contemplating a race.

"He's making no plans, and we're doing nothing," said Neel, adding, "He's not ruled it out in the future."

Asked what "the future" meant, Neel said, "Sometime later than today."

1. Be still my beating heart.
Coming from Roy Neel! Wow. Now that's the kind of stuff I like hearing from Gore's office and confidants.

4. JFK entered in Jan, 1960. Eisenhower entered Mar, 1952
Eisenhower missed primaries and still wound up winning the nomination. It's not too late. Gore could run an unconventional campaign.

Maybe Al will announce in 12 minutes.

7. I hate when the Gore camp teases us like that...
They need to either poop or get off the pot, already. If Gore isn't going to run, why doesn't he just endorse one of the current candidates?

9. He's pretty busy. Several chores on Al's to-do list.
We'll have to wait and see what he's up to.

21. Exactly, he's just hurting the declared candidates
There are already stories coming out trying to spin this as Democrats being unsatisfied with our choices when that couldn't be further from the truth.
If Al enter the race, I think I will support him. But each day that passes makes it less likely that I will do so.

22. Well, I *am* unsatisfied with our choices, to a certain extent...
It just seems that the candidate field has been a little lackluster. I would have been gung-ho for Russ Feingold, however, had he committed to a 2008 run.

8. I love Al Gore to death. But before you all start hyperventalating about a possible Gore run
Remember that Neel's statement is basically the same thing that Al Gore has been saying himself whenever he's been asked.....that he has no plans or intentions to run, but he wouldn't make some Shermanesque (sp?) statement to say never, never.

I don't think Neel's statement is an indication that Gore might be considering it. It's just more of the same (what Gore has already said).

11. Hope he decides soon!
If he throws his hat into the ring, I am all for him, but if he decides that his heart isn't in it, I will still respect him. :)

12. The bottom line ...
If he doesn't run, for the foreseeable future, America's future is bleak.

Nobody else has the experience, knowledge, and respect worldwide, that is required to pull us out of the black hole the Bush Admin and GOP Legislature has sucked us into.

24. This Is The Bottom Line
I agree completely.

This country is FUCKED if Gore doesn't run, and we end up with Clinton Part II.

For all those who say...."But she's not as bad as King george, and she's better than any repub." FINE! Tell me something I don't already know. I suppose she's better than Hitler, Mussolini or Castro also.

I see plenty of the same for the next 4-8 years if Hillary becomes QUEEN. And that's exactly what we'll have....A MONARCHY!! Apparently we're trying to emulate the United Kingdom.

27. Here is a scenario that is bouncing around in my head that somebody else came up with
Mr. Al Gore Jr. is not going to run in the primaries. He is going to wait till the convention. What may happen is Mrs. HRC and Mr. Obama will not have the required amount of votes to become the Democratic Candidate. The split will 50/50. After the second round of votes all of the delegates will be free to vote for whomever they want to. In steps Mr. Gore announcing his candidacy and taking all of the votes i.e., he becomes the Democratic Candidate. In the meantime, Mr. Gore can say what he wants and work toward the environment and world peace.

Of course this all depends on Mrs. HRC and Mr. Obama being dead-locked at the Convention.

We will see!
