email from Sen Boxer re Gore traveling overseas tomorrow
Could this have something to do with the Nobel committee?

I just received the following email:

I just got a call from Vice President Al Gore. He told me that he needs to travel abroad tomorrow for an exciting and urgent mission that could result in a major breakthrough in the fight against global warming.

Unfortunately, this means that we must postpone our Thursday, October 11th event with him until Friday, November 9th. I wanted to be sure to email you tonight in case you were planning on attending.

While I am really disappointed that we won't see Al Gore until next month, I am thrilled that he is continuing to provide critical leadership to address one of the most pressing issues of our time. You should know that only the most urgent global warming mission has called him out of the country.

I look forward to seeing you on November 9th so we can all hear first-hand about Al Gore's latest exciting initiatives. We will be back in touch in the coming days with more details about the rescheduled event.

Thank you so much for your continued friendship and support!

2. Oooh - this could be it! Are they notified ahead of time if they've been
selected? If so, I bet he's on his way to accept! VERY exciting - thanks for posting this!

9. Hmmm... the announcement will be made on Friday, but
the actual awards ceremony doesn't occur until December: http://nobelprize.org/nomination/peace/process.html

So, I dunno what to think. I still think it HAS to be connected somehow. The timing is just too close. And why, if it's something else, did Boxer just HINT and not SAY outright why he's traveling abroad all of a sudden?

Hmmm... well, the announcement will be made Friday at 11 AM CET, which figures to be at 2 AM Friday morning Pacific Time. I'll be waiting up to hear this! :D

10. The Nobel will go to three Environmentalists ...
... Al Gore, Sheila Watt-Cloutier, and Rajendra K. Pachauri. Well, that's how I am calling it anyway.

And perhaps Gore want's to be in Potsdam ( see below ) with the other Nobel laureates, or the Belgrade UN conference to be with the other two winners when word comes down. Focusing the media attention on the CAUSE , and not the distracting talk of Presedential politics. Whether he gets the prize, or not ... this is where he should be, when he knows he'll be the focus of U.S. media attention regardless.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

POTSDAM, Germany, Oct. 9 — Sixty-two years after the victorious Allied leaders convened in this stately Prussian town to create the post-World War II world, 15 Nobel Prize laureates assembled here this week for another momentous task: saving the world from global warming.

------------------

Among those hotly rumored as candidates are three climate-change evangelists: former Vice President Al Gore; Sheila Watt-Cloutier, a Canadian Inuit who has warned of the threat to Arctic wildlife; and Rajendra K. Pachauri, an Indian scientist who leads the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which assesses the risks of greenhouse gases for the United Nations.

Mr. Gore was not here, but his name came up frequently. And the Nobel winners, far from nitpicking “An Inconvenient Truth,” the film chronicling his climate campaign, seemed to embrace it.

Dr. Pachauri was here, and he kicked things off with his panel’s latest findings, which he said should end the debate about whether humans are making the planet dangerously warmer.

14. Thanks for posting this... it makes sense that he would want to
be there at this time. There are many possible reasons why he might want to be out of the country when such an announcement is made. One might simply have to do with press coverage as well. Why let the corrupt American press, full of word-twisting vipers, be the FIRST he talks to?

16. She's hinting at 'something'.
That's why she reiterates:

"You should know that only the most urgent global warming mission has called him out of the country."

*Wink, wink*

17. To be honest...
I'm hoping that the "urgent mission that could result in a major breakthrough in the fight against global warming" is something more than just an award (i.e. major international agreements and/or funding, positive negotiations with China/India, etc.).

Not that Gore winning the Nobel wouldn't be sweet :)
