Undocomented Worker Crackdown Blocked

A San Francisco Federal judge Wednesday temporarily blocked President Bush's attempt to crack down on the hiring of undocumented workers.

That effort by the president to curb illegal immigration started in August after his original plan to overhaul illegal immigration failed.

Under the new crackdown, the Bush administration wanted to penalize U.S. companies who hire undocumented workers and force them to fire some 8 million people.

The Department of Homeland Security wanted to begin sending letters to employers warning of fines and criminal charges if they kept workers whose Social Security numbers didn't match their names.

It's hilarious that the Repubs' plans are being hobbled by a rule that they pushed in order to keep government regulation down. Some day they will wake up and realize they've become everything that they once so loudly opposed.

And, do you trust HLS to implement this program? They've already deported gawd knows how many US citizens because HLS can't chew gum and walk at the same time.
