It's the middle of October and I'm still picking eggplants in my New Hampshire garden. Today I spotted geese . . . flying north. And a stranger in line at the grocery store said, "Sometimes it doesn't seem as if it will ever get better" and everyone knew what she meant. Strange days.

And I don't think we're being told how bad it really is by at least half.

3. My grass is still green |
|
Until last week it was still 80. The trees are just beginning to turn.
It feels a month earlier then it is.
Something is very wrong when my friends were swimming in a NH lake the first weekend of Oct.

7. I remember Fall in late August at Ft. Devens, Mass. |
|
Today is more like Fall down here in SC. Looking for 40s tonight.
The stranger in the grocery store who said, "Sometimes it doesn't seem as if it will ever get better," took the words right out of my mouth.
Life as we know it (or should I say knew it?) is over, IMO. It has been replaced by an atavistic replica of all that has ever been bad.

10. yes...not to sound corny but... |

There is a weird energy in the air lately. Everything looks and feels different.
I think the changes are coming much faster then most realize. It will be good for some, bad for others. But things WILL change and people WILL adapt. Hopefully for the better.

6. We had snow before Halloween... |
|
In areas where it's not expected until just before Thanksgiving... I'm seeing swallows all over town that should have already arrived at points south of Mexico.
And talk about strange... I've just had a discussion with Barbara at Snopes with regard to an article posted there on Al Gore's house, and Snopes's indication that the story is "true"... yet all the resources cited are books about Bush's house. She came back and said that there were links to other articles about Gore's house. I looked at the links she pointed to, and still there are no responses or articles or anything remotely indicating there was input from Gore's camp. The article noted the price (not the quantity) of the energy used by Gore's house, without mention anywhere that the house in question uses "green" energy that costs substantially more than other more common forms.
Who is the Snopes to Snopes? I'm about to put them on my BS/Wikipedia list.
