Woman Jailed for 50 Days Over Cat Urine - Cops mistake it for meth
Edited on Thu Oct-11-07 04:41 PM by RamboLiberal
Cynthia Hunter spent almost two months in jail over a vial of cat urine. Hunter, 38, was arrested Aug. 15 on a charge of petty theft after she was accused of stealing from a Wal-Mart store.

Deputies added charges of possession of a controlled substance after finding a vial containing a yellow substance in her purse. A drug field test suggested the substance was methamphetamine, The Tampa Tribune reported.

Hunter had protested, saying the substance was dehydrated cat urine for her son's science project and that it had been purchased at an animal clinic. She was released Thursday after lab tests found the substance was, in fact, cat urine.

Hunter pleaded guilty to petty theft and a judge gave her time served. It was not clear if she had an attorney and why the substance might have tested positive for methamphetamine.

She should find an attorney and sue.

A bit more on the story:

Cynthia Lynn Hunter spent 50 days in the Orient Road Jail.

On each of those 50 days, she maintained she was innocent of the charge of methamphetamine possession.

That felony arrest cost her her job, her kids' trust and her boyfriend, she says.

"I promise you," she recalls telling the deputy who arrested her at a Brandon Wal-Mart in August. "It's not meth - it's dehydrated cat urine!"

This one has some interesting theories on why she had the cat urine - the reason may not be very innocent.

give many of them PCP/angel dust (aka ketamine).

BTW, this sounds VERY odd in one respect: purchasing dried cat pee at a vet?????????????????????

Is someone at the vet getting urine from the cats on ketamine, dehydrating it, and SELLING IT to druggies?????? Ketamine is cleared by the kidneys so it is excreted in, you guessed it, the urine.

9. Sounds like she had more than one explanation...
...for where she got it and why she had it.

I doubt we'll ever know for sure.

8. Ketamine is, if they have been drugged with it. I don't know if you could
dry the pee to use the ketamine, but this sounds fishy. What supposed experiment was her child going to do with it?????????

7. Except for the fact that she already had an outstanding warrant
and she was caught stealing at the time she had the vile

Why do people comment without knowing all the facts?

13. My point is that she already had 2 strikes against her with
the stealing and the warrant. A field test of the vial

gave it a positive result.

As the song goes, She's not THAT innocent.

More importantly.....Go Sox...WooHoo
