OK DUers: today is day six of non-stop rain
right across Jamaica. The trees are now falling. Gullies are overflowing -dozens of communities are flooded out. Roads and bridges are impassable. We can't take another drop and rain is pelting outside. Lighting and thunder now so we're really hoping we won't lose power. I'm so happy that I left my office at lunchtime today, because hubby says he's been trying to reach home for over an hour and there are stalled cars all over the roads -not to mention water. Several cars have overturned in rivers and gullies. So far four people are dead. By tomorrow I guess many more people will have drowned.

Hurricane Dean already destroyed most of our agricultural crops and now the seedlings for the Christmas crop are certainly drowning. I don't want to think about prices next week. My seedlings are OK since they're on our patio now.

Cayman is also under water and Southern and Central Cuba are taking a battering as well.

Rain, go away.

3. Hahahahha - that's mean but
this too will pass and it's a delightful 75 degrees despite this horrible weather. Sadly lots of people are suffering.

5. Sorry - I just checked the news
I thought it was the usual stormy kind of thing that happens - didn't know this is a full blown hurricane.

Good luck and take care!

6. When you get a chance, stock up on staples like flour, salt, sugar,
beans, rice, cooking oil. Keep a few months' or even a year's supply on hand. You are in a dangerous area WRT the hurricanes and storms.

8. We still have most of our hurricane supplies
so we'll survive. Earlier this afternoon I made a tray of coffee, rum and walnut fudge. Talk about priorities. Now that's comfort food for a rain storm. :D

15. Good. Stock up even more. We're all in for a rough ride, but you're
already on board the ship.

Good luck. And, yes, chocolate is the best way to get through difficulties.

7. I'll say a prayer that the front makes a very, very dranatic change
and heads our very thirsty way in Arizona.

Take care, friend.

I think it will head towards Bermuda - so they say. Some serious dry air is in the gulf so nothing's moving your way.

Change subject.

10. This is the first I've heard of it - I wonder why there isn't more extensive
coverage.

So relieved to hear you're doing okay -- we'll be thinking of you~ :grouphug:

12. Ah well our long weekend will begin today
I'm not leaving here tomorrow if this rain doesn't stop. I can email this document I'm proof-reading. I'm betting most offices and institutions will close tomorrow.

13. Too bad they can't ship it to the southwest part
of the US. We have gone, at times, more than 100 days without rain. 'Course it is a desert. :D Sending good thoughts Jamaica's way that the rain stops.
