Question about Hillary and Saul Alinsky
I love the Saul Alinsky book "Rules For Radicals" and was wondering if it is true that Hillary was a favored student of his? If so that would increase my respect for her. I recall her saying in the senate once that "we must see the world as it is and not as we wish it to be" which is a direct Alinsky quote. For anyone who doesn't know about Alinsky, here you go!

in Wikipedia it mentions Hillary and Obama but you can't trust Wikipedia all of the time.

1. LOL, Limbaugh stressed their connection this week.

And he sure doesn't see it as a positive! Heheheheh

2. She wrote her thesis about Alinsky. She turned down an offer by Alinsky to attend his institute.

Here's the article on it and a senior class portrait of Hillary:

From the article:

Alinsky, author of "Rules for Radicals," was a powerful and popular figure on college campuses in the 1960s, and Clinton calls him "charming." He asked Clinton to join him at an activist training institute in Chicago after she graduated. But she turned him down to attend Yale Law School. Alinsky died in 1972 .

3. Thanks for the info!
I was just reading more right wing crap on her and found it funny that most of the things they demonize her for would actually make me like her more if true LOL. I also had read that she made a $15000.00 donation to the National Lawyers Guild..

5. It's crap. The NLG is not a communist organization.
Edited on Thu Oct-11-07 09:34 PM by Selatius
It's true she gave money to the NLG while at Yale, and it's true that some members of the NLG hail from Leninist, Trotskyist, Maoist, and Stalinist tendencies, but it's also true that the NLG counts among its members anarchists, libertarians, progressive independents, along with Democrats, Greens, democratic socialists, and most likely more. Y'know, if I had been a college student in the 1960s and donated money to the ACLU, for instance, I'd probably be red-baited as well if I were running for office today.

Back then, many people on college campuses openly explored different political ideologies and compared and contrasted them against each other. It was fertile ground for many kinds of left wing ideologies and tendencies.

6. I have no problem with it
it actually makes me like her a little more to know she was involved with the Left.
