It's pretty clear he wasn't going to sample a smørgåsbord.

Too bad the Supreme Court didn't have as much wisdom as the Nobel Committee.

15. Well five of them, anyway
Stevens, Breyer, Bader-Ginsburg and Souter can sit there for eternity
as far as I'm concerned.

As for Scalia, Thomas, Rhenquist (and successor Roberts),
O'Connor (and successor Alito), and Kennedy, I think your
comment covers my sentiments exactly.

18. yeah, especially O'Connor and Kennedy
who have expressed disappointment that the court will lean too right. well, what the fuck did they expect . and they are to blame for it. yes O'Connor is to blame for women losing rights over their body.

20. Agreed there!
Scalia, Thomas and Rehnquist were lost causes way before that.
O'Connor and Kennedy had the chance to prevent a disaster, and
instead chose to watch it happen. I hope O'Connor suffers every
day that she lives, knowing that she is responsible for so much
misery in the world. It must be an awful burden to know that you
could have prevented this, and chose not to. I'd even bet that the
tears she must be shedding at the choice of her successor, Alito,
are genuine.

22. He didn't take off for Norway last night...he was here in the Bay Area...
The award ceremony is in December....

The rumors were flying today because he was supposed to fly to China and had canceled attending a fundraiser for Barbara Boxer, but then did appear afterall.

Yes, it is too bad the SCOTUS didn't have the wisdom or the constitutional foresight to not have stepped in to the middle of state rights.....

He's always been my President

24. If so, my bad.
The news reports here (Germany) had him on the way to Oslo.
If he was in the Bay Area, then obviously they got it wrong,
and as a consequence, so did I. Apologies.

I agree--duly elected POTUS was and is Al Gore.

39. Congratulations Al Gore and the IPCC!
A special thanks goes out to all those grad students, technicians and volunteers who work so hard to gather, analyze and verify the data that furthers our understanding of man-made climate change.

Whether you are numb taking ice core samples in the Arctic, busy swatting mosquitoes while studying tropical rain forests or waiting up until the wee hours of the morning to get mainframe time for those number crunching climate model programs; this one is for you.

46. Congratulations, President Gore!
t is a very proud day when we have TWO Democratic Presidents who have won the Nobel Peace Prize: Yourself and The Honorable Jimmy Carter.

You are in VERY good company!

President Gore, you are a true visionary and regardless of what some right-wing pundits and the media says or does - MANY MANY people around the World LOVE you and support you.

When the election was thrown to George W. Bush in 2000, you said to your supporters "I won't forget you".

NEVER forget that those same people and now MANY others support and love you and appreciate the extremely important work you are doing to save our planet and by extension ALL OF US.

THAT is certainly deserving of the honor given you.

It was a dark, dark time in 2000 when you didn't get the job you were elected for - President of the United States. There was NO ONE ELSE who was more qualified to lead our nation over the precipice from the 20th to the 21st Century than you, President Gore, with the wisdom and vision you obviously had then, and still do.

We understand if you have "fallen out of love" with politics after what the media and the right-wing has done to you.

As for me, I also understand that the work you're doing now is at LEAST if not MORE important than the job of President of the United States, and that being President might take your energy and time away from saving the Earth (and us).

NOT that I don't STILL think you should run again, and that you are STILL the best person for the job. That has NOT changed in my mind. But I understand why you would not want to after all that has happened.

And maybe, just maybe, the Universe had a bigger and much more important job for you, President Gore, than just being POTUS, and maybe that's why things turned out the way they did in 2000. Because now, not only are you the President of the United States (even though they wouldn't let you do the job you were elected for and gave it to someone else), but you are the President of the Planet.

And as the planet's savior, once again, YOU are the only person who could do the job you've been doing. You are unique, wise, and a great credit to the United States, The World, and all of Humanity.

Congratulations, President Gore. You didn't forget us. And we will NEVER forget you.

Love,

Triana

47. Gore finally broke thru the oil industry's propaganda and lies re GW ---
Now -- he has to begin to discuss nationalizing our oil industry and putting control of our natural resources back in the hands of citizens --

No private family has the right to control our wealth and resources -- and certainly not OIL.

Additionally, Gore has to begin to talk about electric cars --

See: "Who Killed the Electric Car?"

Every moment that gas-guzzlers are on our roads is another moment that we are adding to our problems with GW --

"You've Got the Whole World in Your Hands". Your running could make a whole lot of difference for the future of humanity the world over.

AL Gore and Dennis Kucinich are the only two Dems I would vote for in 2008. If one of them are not on the ticket, I will probably write them in - Gore for Pres and Kucinich for VP.

59. What goes around comes around.
Bush cheated and got the presidency. he also had the help of a pack mentality press.
They destroyed Gore and even then, he really won. he was laughed at for his ideas and his pronouncements.

7 years later the press has to live with what they did. Bush is the worst president in history.
The supreme court for the first time in it's history has lost alot of respect from the people
And Al Gore became a hero and an international star, nobel peace prize winner and is seen as the goreacle

I don't think there's a single person on this planet that even imagines that George Bush would ever win a Nobel Peace Prize, much less accomplished anything more than running more businesses into the ground that his daddy gave him.
