CNN to rain on Gore's parade |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-12-07 06:53 AM by Texas Explorer
Just announced that they will be taking a look at Al Gore's environmental impact at the top of the hour.
What a bunch of goddamned petty motherfuckers!

that critique spotlight is shone more often on and directed more intensely at Democrats and Progressives than Republicans and those on the Right Wing.

6. This is framing the issue |
|
They are trying to cast Gore in a bad light by suggesting he is hype rather than genuine. The mere presence of the question rather than congratulating him puts the issue in people's minds. It doesn't even matter if he turns out to be walking the walk. The fact that the "News" is investigating it casts suspicion on him.

21. Sadly, in this case that is true... |
|
We have debated climate change for far too long, yet we have done virtually nothing to do anything about it. The debate has ended in the scientific community a long time ago, it is time the media finally got a clue and realized that climate change is real it is no more debatable than whether or not the Earth revolves around the sun.

30. Where did I say anything like that? |
|
Do you really think we need our news media spending time debating known facts, when we should be finding solutions? Do you want news broadcasts devoted to debating whether or not the Earth really is flat as well? Sure they have the right to make whatever stupid arguments they want in a democracy, but we have the right to call bullshit when they waste our time with these debates in which the answer is already known.

And I'm not so sure they can't...but if Al runs the GOPers are toast and they damned well know it! RUN AL RUN! Tomorrow is my birthday and Al could make it the happiest day of my life, if he'd jump in and pull us back from the shithole the GOP has put us in! Restore the Constitution and the Rule Of Law Al...I know you want to...can you trust anyone else?(I Can't)

and it was rather flattering. They discussed the positive impact he has had and some of the things he really can't directly affect.

14. Asia-Pacific TV had an interesting observation on Gore |
|
They said someone like Bono or another media superstar of his stature, has a huge effect with common people around the world. Someone like former Vice-President Gore has a greater impact on national governments because it's harder to be dismissive of him because he is a former Vice President and, therefore, a member of the club (refering to government officials)
WhileI know many here will probably disagree and say he has an impact on common people. For ordinary people here in Asia, he's not an iconic figure, and for the most part, he is not that important a figure. But, to governments, like China, Japan, Korea, even Burma, he is a very significant figure. So I do agree with their analysis

To "rain on Gore's parade," CNN would have to be above him. CNN is not above Gore. CNN is a tiny puddle on the parade route.

18. They will single him out, and ignore the wider issue of how we all contribute to climate change... |
|
Al Gore does not deny that he emits carbon into the atmosphere through his daily activities, but he is trying to take steps to minimize those emissions. Too many so-called "news" reports in the past about him have made it appear as if he were single-handedly destroying the environment. If CNN wanted to take this issue seriously they would do a in-depth report on the serious threat of global warming, they would not just settle for a hit-piece on a single individual who is at least making a valiant attempt to do something about it.

19. Watched MSNBC this morning. The news reader was beside herself |
|
to get in the first dig at Gore. She could barely keep from rushing through her 5 minute up-date on Brittany.
"Al Gore shares the Peace Prize with the UN Climate Panel. Al Gore, who "re-invented" himself as a climate yada, yada."
I didn't hear after "re-invented" as I was so angry. Gore has been on top of this since COP3. Stupid bubblehead.

29. Apparently Miles O'Brien didn't get the talking points. |
|
He supported Gore's work, noting that only a handful of scientists disagree and that those who do are often traced back to fossil fuel industries. You're a bad boy, Miles, a very bad boy. Some might say a nasty, bad boy.
