Al Gore: "We need to reclaim the integrity of our Democracy"

Finishing quote from speech at Boxer fund raiser yesterday-

"One of the most famous quotes of Winston Churchill was that 'Democracy is the worst system in the world except for every other one that's ever been tried...', and we've heard that quote a thousand times but, all of us who are impatient and who are eager to see big changes quickly also are here tonight because we realize that we have to work in the worst system except for every other on that's ever been tried..."

Incidentally- when I returned to my hotel after my meeting with the ice scientists- two of the networks on teevee had bulletins about Brittany Spears losing custody of her children. I'm not making light of that or saying it's not of interest in the news but, we have to reclaim the integrity of our democracy and talk about real things. I want that generation to ask another question. I want them to ask 'How did they find the moral courage to rise and solve these crises' that so many said were impossible to solve?'

That's our challenge- let's get busy and RENEW OUR DEMOCRACY. Thank you! God bless you!"

1. Gore inspires me! My heart breaks for what has happened to us
with a deranged chimp at the helm.

3. He understands the extent of the degradation that our system
has suffered. It's his "Assault on Reason" book, as much as his work on the environment that convinced me that he's the best man for the job.

9. If he ran (and I still hold out hope),
it wouldn't be running, it would be winning. No amount of shenanigans could keep the peoples choice from being elected.
