Could he not do more for his cause as president?
Granted, he wouldn't have as much time, but he would have much more leverage.

|
and his current "job" re- global warming, is one of getting the message OUT.
he would DEFINITELY be a stronger force in this regard as POTUS.

Right now, he has the luxury to focus on this. If he were POTUS, he would be pulled in a million directions and constantly having to haggle with Congress.
Right now, he is a power. Put him in the POTUS role and he will be too diluted.

9. All good points - many agree with you |
|
IMO, Ican't help but think he could delegate where necessary, and he likely would have a Dem congress so the haggling would be limited.
Not to mention the part his leadership would play in restoring American prestige.

11. as POTUS he could delegate LOTS of attention to the matter... |
|
and direct congress to pass MEANINGFUL legislation.
there's absolutely NO QUESTION that he would be able to do exponentially more to help the cause from the white house.

12. You're wrong. A Gore Presidency would be a tight ship. |
|
No more pandering. No more bullshit pandering to corporations and so on. Ideas will be brought to the table. And they will be discussed, and that will be that. No smoozing. All business. No vacations like fucking *.
And you can bet Global Warming would be one of the first things on his agenda.

13. You act as if the POTUS would magically become a one man job |
|
as opposed to the central cog in a large wheel as was defined by the founders.
What you describe is a theocracy -- and I don't care WHO is elected, it isn't realistic.
Why on earth people want this man to give up all of the good he is doing in order to have to wallow in the great pig sty of politics is mind boggling. He can do SO much more good left to what he is excelling at. Why ask him to give that up to deal with infrastructure and taxes (among the 4,000,000 other things that the Oval Office has to contend with)?

6. Why on earth would he want to run? |
|
I think he's above it. It's probably time for people to stop their endless speculation as to when or whether he will run. Let the man be. Much as we would like to we can't turn the clock back.
