Florida vacation?? Not me,not ever!
I know now I can never invest a penny into Florida's coffers. Despite the fact I love the fishing & my kids would enjoy the freakshow that is Disney. But that will never be as of today.

Seems the place is the embodyment Republican "values" .Freaking "Not Guilty" verdict for the poor child SMOTHERED by those guards while a NURSE watched him die. Not guilty???

Fuck Florida!!

1. its a stunning verdict. i havent looked at the details yet.
Edited on Fri Oct-12-07 02:50 PM by bullimiami
well now i have.

i dont see how they were allowed to seat an all white jury on this case.
that and the mere 90 minutes of deliberation may open the door for an appeal.
it sure seems a travesty that they should be allowed to kill him through their neglectful mistreatment and get off with nothing.
that nurse should be ashamed and should be kicked out of the profession. what the hell were they paying her to do?
watch a sick kid get killed I guess.

pretty damn sickening.

2. I have maintained for years that florida needs to be sawed off from the continent and floated into
the bermuda triangle, where it clearly belongs (apart from its ridiculous "flaccid phallus" appearance, the whole state is just weird.

I regret that I will not be able to visit the new hogwarts theme park, but even to see hogwarts, I would not set foot in the state.

17. Well, as a native, I would gladly be sawed off from the continent and
floated away, if and only if, you take back all that red trash you've been shipping down here for the past 40 years.

3. Luckily it'll be underwater by 2020
The only positive coming from global warming (aside from the fact that my house will suddenly become an oceanfront property).

5. I have been Florida three times as a tourist
Edited on Fri Oct-12-07 02:40 PM by wuushew
two as a child and one as an young adult.

Disney sucks big time and the state is muggy and hot as hell. Pawn shops and anti-abortion billboards everywhere.

My only regret is that I never got to see Cape Kennedy :(

23. You still can. Come on down.
Kennedy Space Center has a new "ride" that simulates a space voyage. Brevard County is a fabulous relaxing place to visit.
Us "east-coasters" disdain the central-Florida right-wing zealots as much as yankees do.

7. It's a purple state, not red. Gore won Florida in 2000
but the Supreme Court ensured that Florida would never be called correctly. I would rather live elsewhere, but I work for the "freak show" (Disney) where thousands of other liberals work. My neighborhood is liberal, too. Every state has it's assholes, and bigger states have more of them. California arrested and expelled a girl for dropping a slice of cake-that doesn't mean that everyone in CA is a Right Wing racist jerk.

8. And I Unfortunately Am STUCK Here!! My Husband Is A Native &
this is his home, even though he sees this crap! Most of the family lives here and my kids were born here and the roots are here. And in my County, it's SUPER bad!

Cruella was my Representative, Christine Jennings supposedly lost an election in the ONE District of her County that was "more" Democratic by 18,000 votes and her opponent sort of won by only 369 votes! The fight went on and on and on and may STILL be going on, but it's useless! The Democratic Party here is paranoid and seems only to "hold meetings" so we can talk about having another "meeting" so little gets done!

So much has gone wrong, and IT SUCKS!!!

14. I'm a native Floridian
that left in 1980 but I still work to try and bring Florida back to the reality based community. The rethugs have gone hog wild there - I swear every county commission is full of greedy little rethugs with ties to big developers who do nothing but rape the land.

I think Florida is finally waking up though - it's not quite been seen in elections, but for instance, the sportsmen are all starting to catch on. There's no place left to hunt unless you pay a fortune to some "club" and everything's drying up so there won't be any fish left before long.

My mother is on the Executive Committee for her local Democratic Party but they don't DO ANYTHING! They just meet to meet I think.

Additionally, make sure to get the word out to support www.floridahometowndemocracy.com and reign in the developers who intend to pave or build on every square inch. Floria's wetlands are cruical not only to Florida but to the nation.

10. I have lived here for over 30 years and it is worse than you think...please
let me know before you guys saw the "dick" of the country off the continent. We vote Democratic and would be useful somewhere else. Why are we here? Love warm weather and had a good Democratic governor for 8 years. Then the shit hit the fan (jeb). Couldn't sell our house, tried for over two years, so we are stuck here for a while or until we glub glub glub.

19. it's just such a terrible situation, the suffering of this boy, his murder, thats what it was
imo, murder and then the covering their asses and now the verdict. Can you possibly imagine what this child's family is going through, has been through? I have one child and to be honest if something ever heppened to her i'm not sure if i would be able to go on.

20. un f n believeable,
they killed that kid, out and out killed him with the nurse watching. i am sick to my stomach over this.

i've been here since 77 and watched the left coast get turned into a bucking repuke 'we own the sand" nightmare" since they tore down all the beach homes that had real people in them and built gated mcmansions instead. I pray for the big African wind to blow the basturds down, I really do.
