How can you tell if a bumper sticker was vandalized, or merely ripped on it's own?

How can you tell if a bumper sticker was vandalized, or merely ripped on it's own?
I was looking at the back of my car earlier, specifically at the bumper stickers. One of them is just like my sig. Looking closer, I noticed something was missing. Someone, actually. Poppy'd been ripped off. Or came off. Not sure. Kind of creeps me out to think somebody tampered with my car.

But when I surveyed the damage to the sticker, the edge that was left was jagged. Now you'd think if somebody tried to rip it off, they wouldn't leave a straight up and down, yet jagged edge behind. You'd think the whole thing would have come off, or the end would have been more twisted and stretched. But no, it looked pretty clean except that one whole face was missing.

It's a fairly new sticker, so I wouldn't expect it to be brittle like the last one that was in that spot. However, I did go through a car wash this week. They ran it through twice because I'd asked for wax and they didn't give it to me. I wonder if Poppy's been missing since then and I just didn't notice.

Anybody have experience with vandalism of their bumper stickers? What do you think? I'm reordering a new one, and I'd hate to think this is just going to keep happening. I also hate the thought that someone around me would feel strongly enough to mess with my stuff. It makes one feel violated.

4. I've ordered 5 new ones from a website I found that sells them.
If it happens again, I'm ready.

Also, I think there are a few people who wouldn't mind having one themselves.

3. Tape the sticker ( if possible) to the
inside of the window, facing outward.

That's what I do.
They don't get wet and no one can mess with them.

5. There's a thought
Still gotta fill the hole that was left, though. I have four stickers normally. One's missing. The symmetry is off. Maybe I'll put "Kerry in 08" back there again. I sorta miss it anyway.

6. Being an atheist with a bumper means lots of experience
I have had three sets of bumper stickers stolen. One set removed and placed on the side of my car. Key jobs and other assorted pleasantries.

Doesn't sound like tampering to me. However if you are worried about that sort of thing might I recommend getting some magnetic backings. Stick the stickers to the magnets and then slap the stickers on the back of the car. They stick really well and do not fall of. Unless you want to take them off. Say you want to change them around or go stealth mode.

You can pick up magnetic backing at any sign manufacturer or order some from www.evolvefish.com

8. Hell, I used to live in Nebraska
Be glad they're only ripping off parts of your bumper sticker behind your back, instead of getting in your face and calling you a pinko liberal over a Mondale/Ferraro bumper sticker (as happened to me in 1984). :scared:

Actually, the part I'd like to see removed is the pic of that fathead Jeb Bush...now THAT scares the hell out of me. :)
