Get ready for the War on Christmas of 2007
Like Christmas music and decorations, rumblings from the Right about a mythical “war on Christmas” come earlier every year. In the second week of October, we have perhaps the first entrant: the American Family Association—fresh off its success in bombarding newspapers with angry letters demanding they stop running a television ad—is warning its supporters that the web site for a cookie company is not using the word “Christmas.” As usual, this is translated into an effort to “offend Christians” and “ban Christmas”:

Mrs. Fields has become the first company to ban Christmas from their products and promotion for this year. … Mrs. Fields wants the business of Christians who celebrate Christmas, but they don’t mind if they offend Christians. …

Tell the company that since they don’t mind offending Christians, you will not be purchasing their products this Christmas. Ask them to please use Christmas in their promotion next year.

2. They're starting a little too early this year
and by the time Thanksgiving rolls around, even the faithful will be sick of the self righteous hostility.

Poor Dobson. He should have waited until next year to start this early. He might have been able to rally the fools for Christ in time for the election.

25. Sadly it did not just start either
I remember them bringing this up early in the summer, I believe it was around June that they put it on their front page. I check the American Family Associations site from time to time because they give me good material to make fun of them with when I write satire, and I distinctly remember reading an article there months ago already preparing for the coming "war".

5. but it's okay for them to declare war on MY sacred holy day-- Samhain (otherwise known as Halloween)
Edited on Sat Oct-13-07 02:08 PM by niyad
and by some very brutal, ugly means (hell houses, scare tactics, etc) what a flagrant bunch of hypocrites.

note to American "Family" ass. and others-- Christmas is OUR holiday--you stole just about every single bit of your celebration from our rituals. but then, you did that with easter, too.

It has been decided to declare New Years Day an official sponsor of state terrorism.

22. I heard that we got their #2 man yesterday, Again,
That's the fourteenth Salvation Army Major done in.

You'd think they'd be running out of volunteers for that fatal '#2' spot.

In other news, fruitcakes smuggled in from 'foreign agitators' have been increasingly spotted in circulation, giving credence to the fear of WMD's being used in the conflict.

Such escalation is certain to bring out retaliation in the form of re-gifting crappy sweaters in hideous shades of green to the parties responsible.

Where will it end.
