John Frankenheimer's "The Manchurian Candidate" will be on PBS
this afternoon... ah, what a cast and how timely. Made in 1962.

John Frankenheimer's political thriller about a Korean War vet (Laurence Harvey) who's brainwashed to kill. Marco: Frank Sinatra. Raymond's Mother: Angela Lansbury. Iselin: James Gregory. Rosie: Janet Leigh. Chunjin: Henry Silva. Jocie: Leslie Parrish. Jordan: John McGiver. Yen Lo: Khigh Dhiegh. Screenwriter George Axelrod adapted Richard Condon's novel.

1. i love that movie and imo the remake never should have been done, the original
is wonderful.

I prefer the original, but the remake isn't too bad.

5. many things bother me about the remake but where i think they went the
wrongest were the brainwashing scenes, in the original they were way ahead of their time and those scenes imo are movie masterpieces.

The original is better by far. But, the remake isn't that horrible. It's a good movie, but the original is excellent.

7. i agree, the remake is not horrible. I just wish some things would be left alone.
12 angry mean, judgment at nuremberg, oy done really well the first time, no remake was needed.

3. I'd seen Angela Lansbury on "Murder She Wrote" for years
before I saw this film and it really blew me away with how talented she is.

4. she is amazing, she has made so mnay good movies. That part seemed written
