Poll question: after 9-11, did you start coLLecting american fLag items?
i remember the weekend after that awfuL day, i was at my parents' house (don't worry, my mom-dukes caLLed me earLy tuesday evening to make sure i was ok, even though i was in boston) and my mother excitedLy started to piLe gifts for me in my arms; but unLike a red rider bebe gun or a footbaLL, she was piLing a bunch of american fLag items into my muscuLar, sLightLy hairy, and super sexy arms.

she gave me a fLag pin, a fLag tie, a fLag bumper sticker, and a few other things i can't recaLL. immediateLy when she was done, i handed them back and so said, "no, i don't want these." she gasped, and asked, "don't you Love america!?"
i roLLed my eyes and said, "yes, but these fLag things don't prove that."

we had a LittLe back and forth, but i assured her that i wiLL not take those, and if i do, i'm just gonna throw them out.

anyhow, did you become an american fLag waver/wearer/etc after 9-11, and are you stiLL one?

Although now I react with disgust and revulsion to the flag, whereas before 9/11 I could take it or leave it. It was just a thing, then. These days you can make a pretty good guess that people who feel the need to overdo the display of it are full of hate and fear.

4. We hung a flag up on the sliding glass doors
of our apartment for a while after 9/11 as a tribute to the dead, but that was it. We took it down when the flagpole flags around town were raised up from half-staff, and we don't own any stickers/lapel pins/bumper stickers/magnets/etc. with American flags on them.

5. I see all these huge SUVs plastered with American Flags and I wonder ...
Did they (the driver) serve in the U.S. Military?

It seems to hold "a negative correlation" between obnoxious jingoism and demonstrated military service.

I served in the military and both my father and husband made careers (20 years) out of their military service. Yet, we don't fly the flag nor plaster stickers on our vehicles.

Go figure. ;)

7. Other :)
I bought one heart shaped flag at the drug store that freakin' says "God Bless America? on it! And "My Home Sweet Home"..I think I liked the heart.

But, I was still in the 10% club.

I do love America(just hate the fascist bushits).. and I love the whole damn Planet.

12. oh yeah and people actually getting their flags stolen. What killed me was all these
people wanting flags and then they don't even bother to take it down at night like you're supposed to, that to me was the absolute mark of jingoism.

10. Not a single one, but my sister did...
...but then again, my sister also ordered a set of audio tapes from Bill O'Reilly's Web Site, so she's in the right demographic. Just like the White House, she had her TV tuned in to Fox News for most of the say.

She's in Colorado Springs now. I'd like to say I miss her, but...

:silly:

18. I am a government employee and my well-meaning coworkers
kept giving me flag pins and small flags suitable for inbox display, even sent via email a mini computer program that installed a flag waving near the time on my taskbar. I kept thanking them and throwing all the tangibles into my paperclip cup. the flag program was quickly deleted.

22. I flew a flag that Tuesday and have proudly had one up ever since.
I think MORE Democrats should make a conspicuous use of our flag - if for no other reason than to remove it from its current status as a GOP trademark.

the cross wind though didn't allow us to fly that flag correctly...

We still have it.. by the way.
