1. some interesting comments
Dear Mr. Gore, I am a 28 year old republican from Miami Beach Florida. I voted for the current presidant. What a mistake!! Pres. Bush ruined my family's buisness involving Mental Health Care & Drug rehabilatation. Leaving my father bankrupt. He shortly later passed away from cancer. I am convinced the stress from lossing everything caused his cancer. You sir are the only chance we have. I come from a long line of republicans. But I promise if you run I will vote for you. As well as everyone I know. The world needs your leadership. Thank you, Captain Patrick S. Hagood P.S. Congrats on The Nobel peace prise, U deserve it.

Sir, in "The Assault on Reason" you challenged us to become involved in the national discourse. We are doing exactly that now. We need your wisdom, your statesmanship, and your integrity in the highest office of our land. As President, you would not only have the power to deliver the message about our climate crisis, but you would have the power to do something about it. I know it won't be easy, but we are behind you, completely. Please sir... run for President. For ALL of us. Thank you.

Lets make sure he actually MOVES IN this time!

Al Gore would be the only reason why i would even consider voting without feeling set up.

Run for President or I will buy a Hummer!

I am a 72 year old senior citizen, we need your help and even more for the future of our grandchildren.Please.

Hope rises in myheart at the thought of you on the ticket, and then at the helm. America needs you more than ever.

I'm in Sydney, Australia, and I NEED you to run for president. The world needs you.

Dear Mr. Gore, In "An Inconvenient Truth" you admonished us to vote for leaders who are committed to solving the global warming problem. Please have the courage of that conviction ... and run. Thank you. Rick Swart

I'm not from the US, but I know how important a president like you would be for the world.

Please run so I won't want to move to Canada.

5. Here is a cool idea
If you come across a really cool comment, copy and paste it here.

I wish I would have. Yesterday, there was a comment from a troop in Iraq begging Al Gore to rescue them from the hell hole. He said that we need leadership.

So if you come across a great comment, paste it on this thread. Lots of great thoughts out there for Al Gore.

6. What has Gore said about the present situation in Iraq?
Has he offered up any type of a plan for either U.S. withdrawl or U.S. keeping troops in Iraq?

7. His speech from 2002 says it all for me
Transcript of Al Gore's Speech "Iraq and the War On Terrorism"
Monday, September 23rd, 2002
2:12 PM PST

(Remarks as prepared)

INTRODUCTION

Like all Americans I have been wrestling with the question of what our country needs to do to defend itself from the kind of intense, focused and enabled hatred that brought about September 11th, and which at this moment must be presumed to be gathering force for yet another attack. I'm speaking today in an effort to recommend a specific course of action for our country which I believe would be preferable to the course recommended by President Bush. Specifically, I am deeply concerned that the policy we are presently following with respect to Iraq has the potential to seriously damage our ability to win the war against terrorism and to weaken our ability to lead the world in this new century.

Dear President Gore: I generally vote republican, primarily because most democrats are dogmatically liberal and folow a 'party line' mentality on several issues (like gun control) and staunchly refuse to open their minds to facts they are not already aware of. However, issues of far greater importance...like the fact that we're rapidly destroying our environment...supercede many other concerns. The republicans and most democrats have been bought out by industries' millions and power. I believe you have not been. We need you. And, in my humble opinion, you were elected president. preteonmmve

our earth is just, if not, just as important as choosing best person to lead our nation...without a planet to live on it won't matter who's president....we need you Mr.Gore

Please Mr. Gore, run. Having been active in politics since I was 11 during the primary season for the 1992 campaign. When I look at the field of this year's candidates and I yearn for 92 excitement. I am as of now, not really that motivated to stand out in the rain for any one candidate. That could all change Mr. Gore. I would not only stand out in the rain for a Gore ticket, but I would give up what little free time I have as a graduate student for your campaign. I realize that you are busy and have a successful life outside of politics now, but please lets win back the country in 2008. Assault on Reason really is a treatise for you campaign. We must stand up and do something to restore our country. Please, Mr. Gore, be the man that leads us. My mom and I were talking about this and she said our country is lucky enough to always have a leader when we need one. Mr. Gore we have never needed one more than now.

Mr. Gore, 911 wasn't the only attack on america recently. Please watch (or rewatch) the first 6 minutes of farenheight 911. The wound created on that one day to our country is still an open wound. only you can keep if from becoming a scar. please run for presindent again.

Al - I love you and your wife ... you are an intelligent and ETHICAL MAN! A couple of years ago I bought many Gore Domains ... I will donate every single one to you if you run! I couldn't blame u 4 not wanting the headache - but this country needs you desperately!!! I know you've got a great life now & G-d Bless You - but please do it for the sake of "America"! Our forefathers came to this country and put into a place a real "democracy" with oversight & a congress that represents its people! This "vision" of America has been shredded! Please help us to restore the constitution of America! I love this country, and I know you do too! I pray you will consider the task! You are my hope, and I know I speak for many decent Americans who love this country!!! Your wisdom & character are needed to lead us from the dark -- into the light again ... I pray you know that you are needed & respected!!

I am traditionally a conservative Republican with Libertarian values, and I would vote for Al Gore in a heartbeat if he ran. The country is in bad shape and Al Gore is the best man to see the country gets back on the right path.

I am a republican and I have to admit Gore dwarfs all the prospective candidates in either party. I'll donate.

life long republican, but I'll vote for Gore!

Dear Mr. Gore: I know that you are probably quite content with doing what you are doing now. I know that you feel you have found your true calling. I know that you do not want to subject yourself to the cauldron of presidential politics, to the puerile hatred and vitriol of the right-wing blogosphere, and the scrutiny of a "news" media that so befouled you, your achievements and your ideas in 2000. Neither would I. Running for president of the U.S. has become like running for middle-school prom queen. I cannot fault you for wanting nothing more to do with it. I know you probably won't run, sir, and to say I hope you do would be redundant and unnecessary. Congratulations on your achievements and thank you for your efforts. Do what you think is best for you, your family, your country and your world.

I'm tired of the "lesser of two evils" choice, please run! Make it easier for me!!!

I just re-watched Gore's 2000 concession speech and I am shaken by the thought of different things would have been....

I do not trust any of our politcal leaders anymore, but I feel AL GORE might still have an ounce of truth left in him.

I have been in touch with Kirsten Gore for years and urged the vice president to get going for 2008. As a TV/Film writer and former senatorial aide (Alan Cranston), I'd be delighted to help the California effort in any way I can.

Enough sons and wifes of presidents...

As a registered Republican, my party has not fielded a competent and ethical candidate. I would never vote for Hillary Clinton. Please accept my vote. Thank you for your fine service to our country.

The earth is running out of time to be saved by you if you do not run for presidency, because no other position in the world is more powerful and effective in solving this global warming issue. Please don't seek any more execuse for not running. You don't have other alternative and it's God's calling...

Dear Al Gore, I'm just listening to Thom Hatmann's 2nd Hour on his Air America Program from Friday, Oct 12. He's playing audio from one of your incredibly rousing, inspiring, and kick-butt speeches from 1.5 years ago. Thom says you're the Nelson Mandella of our country, and I agree. I hope and pray that herculean forces move in and through both you and Tipper so that you can move quickly and become our Democratic Presidential candidate!!! Will you please take a listen to the 2nd Hour of Thom Hartmann's Friday Show if you haven't heard it yet? You know you have it in you to make this thing happen, Mr. Gore! Millions upon millions of us feel similarly! WE CAN ALL MAKE THIS MOST IMPORTANT THING HAPPEN! The way you speak truth to power is so inspiring and magnificent! Few have this gift expressed as well and powerfully as you, Dear Al Gore! You have the resume as no other to win! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE MORE OF YOU PLEASE! Most sincerely, Ken Horton Santa Monica

Honorably discharged Combat Veteran of the Afghanistan War. I served you. Now serve me.

While I am a strong supporter of Ron Paul, I do, see the sincerity and insightfulness that you, sir have provided our nation then and now. Please Mr. Gore, reclaim what you have won before, reclaim your presidency! I will change my vote from Ron Paul to you if you do decide to run. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I am a 22 year survivor of HIV/AIDS. In 2000 your candidacy for President truly gave me a great hope; for our country and Earth's health and well being. The Bush administration has shaken our sensibilities and fractured our hopes. To be honest, I do not have much longer to live and my concerns go so far beyond my continued existence. I KNOW in the depths of my heart that not only do the people of this country need your leadership, indeed, the entire planet desperatly needs your humanity and strong gifted guidance. Please, PLEASE become all that you can be. Say 'yes'. Please say yes.

Mr.Albert Gore, I am 78 years old.Time is running out.I will never be able to talk one on one with you,so I beg you to be the new broom and sweep out the mess we have in this country and Bring it back to the what God mean't it to be.I wish I could write more but my message will be truncated. You will make it this time. Gog Willing Felix

Why do you guys make it a Democrat party thing? This is beyond party

I have been a staunch republican for years and would finally make a switch and endorse a democrat with REAL values and a background that is undenialable. He is the real deal and should be the next president of the unites states.

The 2nd king of Rome, Numa Pompilius, who did not want to be king, but the people pleaded with him because the people of Alba Longa needed a peaceful leader. They convinced him that it was his civic duty to leave his pleasant life, and dive into the fray. History repeats itself.

The earth has chosen you.

23. Interesting comment - Gore could enter after New Hampshire / Iowa...
Thomas - TX - There is not doubt that Hillary, Obama, or even Edwards would be a significant improvement, especially John Edwards. Al Gore would take us in a direction that save this country from the gutter ii is now. The recovery of the environment is a significant economic opportunity for this country. So, come on, write-in Al in Iowa and New Hampshire. If Al does well, he may reconsider.

Oooooohhhh - I had not thought of that possibility... :D

DraftGore needs to run more radio ads! I've only heard them on Air America Phoenix - has anyone heard them elsewhere? How about TV?

David, CA -- Who needs florida anyway?

Nicole, CT -- Congratulations on the Nobel Peace Prize. Congratulations seems like a small word. We are so proud of you. Our country needs you Mr. Gore. Please run for the Democratic nomination. I will campaign for you and I will vote for you. As will my whole family. We love you Al!

Paul, FL -- Mr Gore I've read two of your books and I'm a republican for my childs sake please please run!!!

Daniel, MI -- As one who has served in the Air Force from 2002-2006, I can tell you honestly Al, our country needs you, our military needs you, the world needs you. Run, Al, run.

Anthony, NY -- Al Gore is the one candidate that the democrats will all unite behind. As the father of a new-born baby the single most important issue to me is the environment. Gore is the only person who will do something to reverse course on global warming. Hillary is like a corporation.

Jan, NM -- To the Honorable Vice President Al Gore, In The Assault on Reason, you emphasize that it is VITAL that we Americans have our voice be heard. The question is: WILL YOU LISTEN? The draftgore.com petition has over 200,000 signatures as of today, many with heartfelt commentary urging you to be our next president. WILL YOU ANSWER THE CALL to run? Or will you DEFAULT America to Hillary? Rudy? Mitt? Do you really believe that any of them will truly advance the cause of global warming? Reduce our dependence on oil? Get us out of Iraq? I believe that YOU WILL RUN, sir, and that YOU WILL WIN. You will run a campaign that is different from any campaign that America has ever before seen. You are a GREAT man, yet you still have FURTHER GREATNESS beyond today’s horizon. Mr. Gore, you will be our next president. And you will advance your global warming initiatives BEYOND YOUR OWN HIGHEST DREAMS. You will get us back online with Kyoto and… You will get America OUT OF IRAQ. And that, sir, will truly be a NOBEL PEACE. With the Highest of Regards, Jan NM.

Colin, SC -- I won't vote for you but it will better the election.

28. Yep... she's obsessed with numbers...
28,043 in 24 hours is 19.47 per minute
8,411 in 24 hours is 5.84 per minute
4,011 in 24 hours is 2.78 per minute

2.78 people per minute is pretty damn good...
