Matt Lauer - We'll have Coulter on Today if she has a Vital View on something
Pray tell Lauer - what the hell could she ever have a vital view? Saw her for a minute of two on O' Reilly. All she oculd do was make outrageous statements, give that nervous laugh when called on it, make stupid comments about Democrats and toss that long blonde hair. She's definitely volume not quality.

Matt Lauer tells TVNewser, "I think we're going to make that decision on a case by case basis. I mean, if there's something in the news that she has a vital view on, then I think we would consider having her back on.

"In terms of having her back on just to be outrageous, that probably wouldn't happen. She's a tough call, because you have to kind of walk a fine line. She is someone that a lot of people find outrageous, and as a result, don't want to hear her voice. And yet she does reach a lot of people, and she gets people to react. At some point you have to make a decision whether it's quality or quantity or whether it's just volume or quality. And I think we should make that on a case by case basis."

1. Matt Lauer: We will have Ann Coulter on because she increases ratings
with her controversy.

Lauer is such a sycophant.

2. Correct-a-MUNDO!
But I wonder if there is any real co-relation between an appearance by Ann Coulter and improved ratings.

Cable shows can (apparently) afford to believe this whether it is true or not. But, Today can only afford to have Coulter on if she really does represent a ratings boost. In network television, an astonishing amount of money can be gained or lost with even a fraction of a ratings point.

With luck, Coulter will 'jump the shark' this fall and take the Today show and Matt Lauer with her.

Live by the ratings, die by the ratings.

7. You know, I bet if Matt Lauer were to eat a big shit sandwich on the air, it would increase
ratings, too.

3. What makes her 'view' more newsworthy than some drunken barfly?
She holds NO elected office, NO advisory role, NO position of public trust, and NO position of honor in academia. NOTHING. She's dedicated to verbal vandalism and feces flinging for personal gain and gratification. Famous for being famous.

Hell ... the drunken barfly is probably saner.

6. Ann who?
Maybe if we all ignore her, she'll finally go away.

8. It's a tough call here too, Matt.
Should I watch a show that has on people knowing full well their history of hate mongering? Would you allow liberals on that said they wanted conservatives dead? Something tells me not.

A really tough call...
