Duck Cheney
For three decades Vice President Dick Cheney conducted a secretive, behind-closed-doors campaign to give the president virtually unlimited wartime power. Finally, in the aftermath of 9/11, the Justice Department and the White House made a number of controversial legal decisions. Orchestrated by Cheney and his lawyer David Addington, the department interpreted executive power in an expansive and extraordinary way, granting President George W. Bush the power to detain, interrogate, torture, wiretap and spy -- without congressional approval or judicial review.

Now, as the White House appears ready to ignore subpoenas in the wiretapping and U.S. attorneys' cases, FRONTLINE's season premiere, Cheney's Law, airing Oct. 16, 2007, at 9 P.M. ET on PBS (check local listings), examines the battle over the power of the presidency and Cheney's way of looking at the Constitution.

2. part of the plan
The wire taps started prior to 9/11 so if they were be used to track
"terrorists" why did they not stop 9/11?

3. It is time to elect a Democrat as President
If we manage this correctly, the next President (almost a sure bet to be a Democrat at this point) could hold office for two terms and the Vice President could be elected for an additional term.

With 12 years to administer the government, we could undo the wrongs the republicans have fostered on us over the last 20 years.

Twelve years ( and possibly 16) will allow for three to four Supreme Court nominees. Moving the Supreme Court back to a Liberal base where it belongs will go along way toward fixing these illegal breeches of the constitution that george bush has pulled off.

4. You can't force "free trade" down people's throat unless you
have a strangle hold on them.

The powers the executive branch has accumulated is to ensure the free-for-all called "free trade", globalization or neoliberal economics can continue, while forcing the people into submission. Just like In Pinochet's Chile.

Republicans are not for Democracy, they are for "free trade" at any cost.

Anyone who avoided service in RVN with five draft deferments is definitely adept at "ducking"....so i have always referred to him as Duck Cheney.
