Historical Quote of the Day - (Freepers will love this one)
"A moment I've been dreading. George brought his ne're-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida. The one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I'll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they'll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work."

-- Ronald Reagan, May 17, 1986, in his recently published diaries

8. If Al Gore created the internet ...
then Ronald Reagan described George W. Bush as a 'shiftless ne'er-do-well.'

10. Perhaps you should be the snooper detective and preserve junior's good name?
...this debasement of political argument needs to be backhanded out of the public arena as quickly as possible, and someone needs to bring some disinfectant wipes in to clean up after it, and I think alcibiades_mystery is just the person to clean things up.

15. But you didn't get pwned by a detective
You got pwned by the hoaxer, and now you look foolish. It's embarrassing, I know. But you'll get over it, I'm sure.

Chin up, baby boy.

It really does make you look like an idiot.

On edit: And no, I'm not a Creeper, but I am kinda tired of us looking silly this way.

16. Yeah, mea culpa
Today it seems like anybody and everybody has.

Actually, in the automotive business, every day is like that lately.

Sorry.

6. Hoax or not, it is certainly believable
The Snopes description is great: It is often the case that a piece of satire hits so lose to home (i.e., seemingly confirms something that people believe to be true) that it becomes difficult to distinguish from reality - especially when an excerpt is presented outside of its satirical context.
