I have a small "Gripe" about the software used on DU

Not a Big Deal but rather a umm.. senseless thing...anyway..

When you "edit" a Post ...want to fix spelling errors or add to the post, the software
puts that little Red "Edited by (poster) on such and such a date. Like the example ...

I mean...what's the purpose of that Red line?...Nobody Cares and it just gets in the way.

Don't hate me 'cause I'm anal. :) ..

1. It's useful if someone stoops to dishonestly changing a post to make a reply look foolish
But a "grace period" of about a minute or so would be nice for those of us who hit "post message" and then immediately notice an error.

2. I think that there is a good reason for this - its to prevent people from changing posts

after someone has responded to a post. It keeps people honest.

Edit for spelling - I understand what you mean. I'll often leave a typo because I'm embarrassed to admit it.

3. I actually like the red edit.
I think that there are a number of good reasons for it including those noted above already.

4. Because you tell me, ASSERTIVELY, that the sky is green at 10:01.
At 10:02, I tell you NO, the sky is BLUE.

At 10:03, you edit your original post and change green to blue, and then reply to my 10:02 post saying, "What are you, an idiot? That's what I SAID!!!! You always get shit WRONG, ya moron!!!!"

Hell, people do that shit even WITH the red line--but at least you have evidence to call them on it.

6. ohhh....Ok....Just wondering cause the other forums like...

5. I care.
If a post has been edited in any way, it's good that it's labeled as such. I like the feature just like it is.

12. Know what I hate? It's when people edit and then don't say why.

11. I agree with you
Its the RED color that bothers me- it detracts from the look
of the post

keep the editing line- black.
