Frost family to continue health care push
Mother to appear in radio ad in support of O'Malley's health care expansion plan

The mother of a 12-year-old boy enlisted by Democrats to promote expansion of a federal children's health care program will appear in a new radio spot.

The radio spot in support of Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley's health care expansion proposal will feature Bonnie Frost, whose son Graeme Frost, of Baltimore, suffered severe brain damage in a car accident three years ago.

Democrats enlisted the 12-year-old boy to promote the program during the party's weekly radio address last month, where he said the children's insurance program allowed him to get the medical help he needed.

The appearance made the family the subject of critical comments by numerous conservative commentators, who questioned whether the boy should qualify for the program for lower-income children.

Critics noted Frost attended a private school where tuition was $20,000 a year; the family lives in an area where one home recently sold for nearly $500,000; and a photo of their home shows recent remodeling, including granite counter tops and glass-front cabinets.
