I want the truth.
Who decided Americans are too weak, too fragile to handle the truth? Apparently were supposed to zip our lips and nod quietly when our country`s leaders say, "Because I said so." Go shopping. Buy a yellow ribbon magnet. Don`t ask questions. Wait for the next directive, then follow the guy in front of you. Don`t we deserve the truth? Wouldn`t it be helpful to be told our government can not totally protect us from terrorist attacks? From avalanches? From E. coli outbreaks? From potholes on rural roads? If we were told the truth, couldn`t we begin to look inward once again? Find some of that old rough and tumble self-reliance? Dig for answers to questions?

How much more can we relinquish before we`re no more than a collection of look-alikes in the same uniform, chanting the same slogan? Watch American Idol. Buy an iPhone. Get a flag pin. Say you hate France. Support the troops by supporting the war. Applaud the partnership between your phone company and your government. Remember that dissent is dangerous.

I just want the truth. I don`t want another nanosecond of scripted, yawn-inducing speeches or recycled, made-for-America "visions." I want it in here`s-the-deal, easy to understand, black-and-white terms:
1. Want the war? Expect to sacrifice.
2. Want cheap imports? Expect to lose jobs.
3. Want torture? Expect to lose respect.

The truth is such a powerful ally. It can free us, help prepare us. It`s what we should demand from our leaders as our first step toward rectifying the collective national damage done by prolonged indifference.

1. You Can't Handle the Truth!
Our society and culture is moribund because it's exactly the same as the Third Reich, if not worse. The United States doesn't deserve to survive in it's present form, and most people everywhere know it.

2. maybe it's just letting lies go for too long?
the lies were so mainstreet oncet, remember? they outlawed booze back in olden days, but recognised that putting alcohol, which could be a big biz under state control and profting few, simply decriminalised, in effect, other uncontrolled drugs such as marajuwanna (which was also a onetime major textile crop which competed with the artificial fabrics such as linen, or the cotton mills etc) ...prohibition was fascistic america in its naked glory, and hiding the nakedness from the herd was the main reason the 18th amendment, the only one which took away a freedom, was passed. The 21st amendment undid the 18th (covered up the bare arse of fascism) but just imagine- for awhile it was illegal to make sell or drink BEER! And that was long ago...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eighteenth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

The battle you think is lost isn't lost, it's never lost. Fascism, even if it wins for a generation, will eventually become repulsive, even to cops and rightwing bizmen. The thing today though is that TIME might be short- for example, global warming is increasing as a threat to future, and waiting 30 years to begin doing something about it may not be too smart, might be fatal to life itself. Also, technology is getting so cool that, if the fascists are left in control now, god knows what they'll do (the techs already can edit live actions, while it's being broadcast; they can put child porn on your computer w/out you knowing it there, they can plant dna evidence anywhere, anytime, thus convict you of murder even if you were on tv watched by millions etc, they can stage a 911 drama on live tv and let roll preplanned fascasti agenda, just like we saw them do...the point is politics is matter of life death, and rightwingers are by design stupid, and truly evil, and Orwell's picture of humaity's fate as a human face crushed by the cop's boot, could, indeed will, come true!
IOW's, you and i have no choice but to press ahead to total victory or total ruin :)
i wanna see tim russert hanged by the neck until dead....is that too much to ask?

3. We have no 'amendments' or 'constitution',
it's all a fraud. The entire history of so-called western civilization ends at Auschwitz. Including the United States; our government was formed by slave-holding proto-Nazis.
We richly deserve in spades the righteous retribution and vengeance soon to come from the very few the Third Reich/USA allowed to live. It's sort of grim to reflect on the fact that America didn't succeed in ensuring Nazi Germany's victory, but mere failure of ambition shouldn't excuse the attempt.
Nazi Germany and America couldn't have happened without each other, now the chickens are coming home to roost. America and the Third Reich are inter-changeable in every way that matters.
