Tests Confirm Comcast Blocking Some Internet Traffic
In a move that violates the very concept of Net Neutrality, one of the founding principles of the Internet --- that all data is treated the same --- tests have shown that Comcast is blocking certain types of P2P traffic. It appears that the technology has not rolled out nationwide --- nor is it consistent --- based on testing, however.
You may recall that in August Comcast denied such shenanigans.
The Associated Press tested sharing the King James Bible (which, for you paranoid folks, is non-copyrighted) using BitTorrent. In two out of three tries, the transfer was blocked. In the third attempt, there was a 10-minute delay before the transfer started.
AP also tried sharing some "more popular files," and had similar results. For some reason they didn't share the file names.
