This is the wonderful thing about the internet, I think. We can engage those on the other side in political speech.

I have a group of right wingers that I met through my business partner. They pass around jokes and other emails ("Nigerian," in nature, which we have a good time with), and often political emails. Since most are Republicans, I find this a nice way to rebut some of the Repug bullshit. The cool thing about it is, because everyone involved in the exchange is a part of a close group of friends, and not just anonymous posters, those who feel like getting nasty and lobbing personal attacks, don't.

The internet is truly a democratizing force. Thank God for it.

1. I do
I am constantly keeping them in line when the post lies or one sided articles. They are actually pretty open to my "Devils Advocate" emails.

2. That's wonderful!
I think it is so necessary, to be willing to play that role. Americans are going to have to come together, all of the people, of both parties, to undo all of the damage that Bush and his cronies have done to this nation. Without the internet, we couldn't even hope to do that.

3. Nope, frayed knot.
Hell, I can barely stand some of the posters on DU, and we're on the same side.

Actually, seriously, I just don't know many wingnuts. For my own mental stability, I avoid them or, when avoiding them is not an option, I severely limit the range of conversation.

I do not want to spend time in the pokey for assault!

6. Not all of them are willfully obtuse.
Some people are very, very ignorant of the facts, KG. I think it is imperative that we engage these kinds of people in political discourse.
