Is Fred Thompson's wife a "gold digger"? |
|
yes a little bit flame bait I guess, but I'm asking the question based on another thread about the use of sexist terminology in the sphere of public discourse.
I'm truly curious as to what others think.

The word you're looking for is "residuals," a word far less redolent of something you scrape off of bathroom tile.
However, I will unhesitatingly defer to your error, as in this case, it is more correct than the truth. :patriot:

20. But you would never use the word "cackle" right? |
|
Read the post's below. Its ok for Mrs. Fred, but not OK for Hillary? I would like to think that gender sensitivity is a non-political topic and the use of sexist terminology is not acceptible no matter what end of the political spectrum you reside in.
That being said, and my point being proved to you sir, can we stop using PC as a way of defending Hill's Non-answers to serious question?

I would use pejorative words to discuss my enemies that I wouldn't use to describe my friends...But unnlike a lot of people here I at least recognize it...
If Elizabeth Dole was accused of "cackling" I might not take umbrage because she's a Rethuglican but I should...
Does that make sense?

35. I get your point... but... |
|
Isnt political correctness supposed to be used across the board regardless of ones political affiliation?
Calling Hillary a bitch would be just as wrong as calling Kay Baily Hutchison a whore. It may be the truth but it doesnt make my use of the word correct. Still somehow calling her that seems ok with me. My point is that calling someone out because they say that Hill "cackles" and then marking them as a sexist is not fair, especially when we turn around and use the same terms ourselves.
"Pejoritively" or otherwise.
PS...please refer to arendt's journal on sophistry and you'll get that last little jab.

If you say Hillary "cackles" your being sexist. Yet if you say Freds wife is a "gold digger" well then thats a different story and most on DU would agree. Some of the same DU people who have their panties all in a bunch over "cackle" are posting here, right now, saying Mrs. Fred is indeed a "gold digger" go figure

I'm sure she saw a former lobbyist and Congressman as excellent raw material for bringing about the rebirth of Saint Reagan.

I dont have a problem with a women using whats she's got to get what she wants. I also cant blame a guy like Fred from being willing to trade security for a hot roll in the sack now and then.
Using sexism as a battle cry is ok depending on who you support. The OP is meant to be bait to show the point I am trying to make, thats all.

I recently found out she and I are alumnae of the same sorority, so out of nostalgia, I won't flame her. On the positive side, so's John Edward's daughter. Then again, so is Kay Bailey Hutchison. And Barbara Bush. Oh, well, you win some, you lose some.
