It just dawned on me. The biggest threat to Roe v Wade may well be Giulliani |
|
After hearing his palaver to the Convention of the Nutters in DC this weekend (the religiously insane "Value" Voters' confab), I am convinced he'd give the green light to the most extreme of right wing nut job judges. He would seat on the Supreme Court judges that would make Scalito/Slappy/Roberts look gentle and caring. They would be religiously insane corporatists. Rudy needs to make his bona fides with the nutters. They don't trust his dress wearing, thrice married, pro-choice, pro-gay, ass. But they love his war mongering. If he can convince them he'll do right in the judge department, he'll get their vote. If he can actually get in such judges, he'll get their **RE**-election support.
I don't think any other candidate would be worse for the Supreme Court.
This guy scares the shit out of me for many reasons. This is but one more.

3. Very true. What better way to "prove" that he's a conservative? |
|
The transformation would be complete.

4. Giulliani would be bad all around.... |
|
People talk about Obama's lack of experience in national politics (which I do think is an issue), but where is Giulliani's experience? He was mayor of NYC, and NYCers now hate him. Not great credentials.
He'd be a lousy President.

his handlers are working overtime right now to develop just that. We can only hope that the 30% see through it and split off.

5. He will "up" the number of younger voters for sure |
|
If he keeps talking like that, surely the youth won't want to lose their rights under R v. W or have another war mongering nut job in the White House.
I'm such an optimist. But you have young adults in your family. What do their friends say?

7. Actually, they kinda like Rudy |
|
Not my own kids ...... they're solid on our side. But some of their friends amaze me in their inattention to all but the most shallow of teevee-fed idea.
And they're all well of voting age and mostly educated. Scary.
We do what we can to inform, but you know how that goes ...... inattention.

9. Have your kid's friends read this...... |
|
The last few paragraphs quickly destroy the "Giulliani as 9/11 hero" myth. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/13/opinion/13herbert.html?_r=2&hp&oref=slogin&oref=sloginYou could also remind them Rudy's own kids don't support him for President. Ouch.
