Plame’s CIA job was to stop Iran from obtaining nukes.

In her first interview since Bush administration officials outed her as a covert CIA agent, Valerie Plame Wilson reveals to CBS 60 Minutes that she was involved in preventing Iran from building a nuclear weapon. In the interview to be aired this Sunday, CBS reports that she was “involved in one highly classified mission to deliver fake nuclear weapons blueprints to Tehran.” From the interview.

6. I have always believed that Plame was the target

and Wilson was just the convenient and timely means to her. If he hadn't been sent on that fact-finding trip at that particular time, they would have found another way to out her and Brewster-Jennings. Of course, it didn't hurt that they could smear a good man as PW'ed.

Implication: Teheran wanted plans for building a nuclear weapon. What "Teheran" means is a bit sketchy--officially endorsed by Khamenei, personal project of some ministry wonk, whatever.

Sort of gives the lie to protestations that Iran's intentions are only pure and innocent, designed for perfectly peaceful purposes, while supporting those saying Iran's trying to become the Greater Satan.

All the more so since odds are this would have happened before 3/03the great assumed reason for anything suspicious that Iran does.
