Valerie Plame and Joe Wilsson look like they weren't really credible.
I agree with your assessment of Couric. CBS wanted a woman anchor for their evening news and so they picked someone whose only claim to fame was that she giggled and was a bubbly personality. It was obvious before she even started that she would be a flop once she had to dampen down her effusiveness.
