I just listened to the last presser in San Diego |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-24-07 01:22 AM by nadinbrzezinski
and who was there showing they were doing all they could?
Brian Bilbray
Duncan Hunter
Darell Issah
I know some of the areas affected ARE in their districts
But in case you wonder... folks all the good the locals had done and all they had done to stay away from the political bulshit has just entered the disaster
(on and for those not in the Inside Baseball game... these three ARE Rs)
Where was our rep for South Bay
And why wasn't Susan Davis there? Her district might be affected on the south end...
God I hate politics... the last thing we need, but of course it was comming.

1. Hmmm, wonder who organized the presser? |
|
Maybe these Republicans got a heads-up and Democrats didn't?

2. What I found interesting... |
|
...was that all the ClearChannel stations (including progressive-talk KLSD and conservative KOGO) were running a joint broadcast/webcast covering the fires.
When I first tuned in, KLSD's Stacey Taylor was behind the mike, and he was scrupulous to avoid politics of any kind.
Then, after noon, right-wing ex-Mayor Rodger Hedgecock took over. The ban on politics mysteriously vanished, as Hedgecock started claiming that everything that made this fire easier to fight than the last one was all due to policies he insitituted (along with a few digs at the Democrats on the City/County Councils for daring to advance a different plan from his), preached how San Diegans needed to help themselves because they couldn't count on government to save them, joked about how the one good thing about the fire was that it was preventing illegals from crossing over from Mexico, etc. :puke:
Apparently, it got to the folks at KLSD, too, because, within an hour, they had dropped out of the joint broadcast plan and started up their own local coverage with Jon Elliot, who threw in some zingers about "Radio Bismark" over at KOGO.
