Museum about McGovern draws many visitors - Chicago Sun-Times

MITCHELL, S.D. -- The McGovern Legacy Museum at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell drew an estimated 25,000 visitors in its first year.

The museum is part of the George and Eleanor McGovern Library and Center for Leadership and Public Service.

''I knew that Sen. McGovern had a lot of friends around the country and world, but I was a little surprised,'' museum director Donald Simmons was quoted as saying in The Daily Republic newspaper. . .http://www.suntimes.com/lifestyles/travel/623324,TRA-News-museum28.article

My first presidential vote was for George McGovern, and it's still one of my best. A great American who knew about war from personal experience and tried to end it. Now he calls on us to work to end this war, and prevent Bush/Cheney's neocon chickenhawk descent into the madness of the next one. (And he doesn't mince words, either).

This would be a lot better world if George McGovern had been elected in 1972. An American hero. Got to go visit this museum someday.

late for me to vote for Eugene McCarthy in 1968 (another true Democrat).

Thanks for posting this. George McGovern is a national treasure.

kick -- too late to recommend, unfortunately.
