Do you think Berkely Brethed is appreciated as he should be? |

He can be hilarious, and relevant. Do people understand that? edit: forgot the link http://www.salon.com/comics/opus/2007/10/28/opus/index.html?source=newsletter

6. I love Opus. First thing I read in the Sunday paper each week. |
|
Have to see his take on the world in general with biting humor and dead on accuracy. I'm pretty sure the humor and "message" flies right over reichwing and rethuglicans heads.

If he is not, it is probably because so many are too young to recall his weekly strip and when he pens only for the weekend, not so many folks see it.
He's great, though... And yeah, the doggies probably are plotting quietly to take over! At least if we wear out our welcome as their "slaves." LOL

3. I think people can understand him perfectly, and still not find him to their taste. |
|
Like me. It's partly his drawing style, partly the writing—there's an overdone-ness, a heavyhandedness, to both.

7. He can also be vague and incomprehensible. |
|
His last few strips in Salon got a lot of response, mostly "Huh?" They were about Opus supposedly with a photorealistic tattoo of Bush somewhere. We still don't know where. Breathed apparently wrote and drew that strip in a coma.
As an animation fan, I like cartoonists in general, but not when they are oblique and unable to communicate to their audience. I fear Breathed is starting to lose it.

4. It and Doonesbury are the only comics I regularly read, |
|
now that Calvin and Hobbes is no more, and For Better For Worse is in flashback stage.
I find Opus to be consistently brilliant, insightful, and relevant.

5. I have a Boone Country book back from the days when Poopy was |
|
running the country into the ground. It's as relevant under Junior as it was then.
