12. I know. I had to rake the leaves yesterday
and then ran for some chores and it was getting pretty dark at 6:00 and I was thinking that this could be 5:00!

On the other hand, you have kids waiting for school bus and when it is pitch dark at 8:00 am...

21. No kidding. Standard time is depressing, it gets dark too early.
If people want to howl about the kiddies waiting for the school bus while it's still barely dawn, then start the damn schools an hour later. The kids will be very grateful, especially the teenagers.

Daylight savings year round will end up saving energy by allowing people to keep the lights off later in the evening year round.

Edited on Sun Oct-28-07 12:19 PM by hlthe2b
So, for the first time, it is the first weekend in November, rather than the last weekend in October.

I'm just going to tell the bear in the den up in the foothills, to roll over... I'm in prime hypernation mood. :eyes:

11. Instead of attending to improving CAFE standards or real alternate energy legislation,
Congress opted to diddle with Daylight Savings Time extensions to "save energy".....?????

5. My computer fell back by itself.
I yelled at it, I clicked the mouse, I smacked it upside the monitor. Nothing helped. Every time I told it to spring forward until next week it laughed at me and fell back again.

Damn contraption.

last spring.

But the old TVs and VCRs I told them to NOT change the date automatically.

13. I thought Hawaii was the only state that refused to go on Daylight Savings Time?
There's so little variation in seasonal length of days that close to the equator that DST makes no sense at all there.

In fact I think it makes no sense anywhere. All it means is my daylight ends sooner, since I don't get up at dawn. Grumble.

Hekate

I didn't think it was time to change the clocks today.

I didn't hear anything about it on the news, as they usually do.

15. "When we change our clocks" - DST Ends at 2 a.m. November 4th
Edited on Sun Oct-28-07 12:48 PM by Breeze54
When we change our clocks

http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/b.html

Beginning in 2007, most of the United States begins Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on
the second Sunday in March and reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November.

In the U.S., each time zone switches at a different time.

2007 --

DST Begins at 2 a.m.

March 11

DST Ends at 2 a.m.

November 4

20. Halloween SHOULD be Standard TIme!
I remember when I was a kid that one of the 'perks' of Halloween was being out after dark. Indeed, I didn't think there was anything scary about the costumes in the daylight -- and darkness was absolutely necessary for the ambiance.

IMHO, that's the worst part of the "new and improved" Daylight Savings Time: we "fall back" AFTER Halloween instead of the Sunday morning BEFORE Halloween.

I'm a steadfast proponent of Daylight Savings Time. I love being outdoors while the sun's shining ... and the later the better. Sure, I know that I could get up earlier and that the clock is merely a convention. But it's a convention that allows folks to COOPERATE and have common working hours and common eating hours ... and common sit-in-the-backyard-and-schmooze hours. My favorite dinners in the summer are in the backyard on the picnic table with friends and family. If it's just a carry-out pizza, it just tastes better that way.

25. I'm getting too old for this shit
It's bad enough trying to make it to 10:00 pm now, fifteen minutes into the news and that's enough for me, now I'm going to be asleep on the couch at 9:30. My senile old momma cat starts yowling at five in the morning for me to get up and feed her, now, she'll be going off at four. Shit.
