4. It was sung in Boston too.
Is this something new? I've been to Angels' games since 9/11 and it is 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game' like it is supposed to be. What is this 'God Bless America' crap?

5. In case the idiots forget what country they're in
At least, that's my conclusion from all the flag lapel pins and craptriotic stuff adorning some people, their cars, clothes, eyebrows, etc.

8. American exceptionalism
It works for invasions, torture, and illegal detentions. Not to mention a wonderful floor polish AND a dessert topping!

14. heh - I think it was here on DU that someone wrote that they'd had a Yurpeen visitor
Edited on Sun Oct-28-07 11:46 PM by kath
who saw all the flags everywhere and said something to the effect of "Can't Americans remember what country they're in? Is that why they have flags everywhere?"

"craptriotic stuff" -- I LOVE it!

9. sheesh, get a life
they started doing that after 9/11 - at the first Yankees game after the attacks. It's been done pretty regularly ever since. National Anthem before the game, GBA at 7th inning.

It has nothing to do with who the owners are and does not mean "fundies = Rockies fans".

turn down the sound if it offends you

13. At the Dodger games I've been to the past few years,
"Take Me Out to the Ballgame" is still played during the 7th inning stretch. I've never heard "God Bless America," which, IMO, has no business at a ballgame. Why isn't the national anthem enough anymore?
