What's the deal with..... |
|
RW brother just sent an email about Barak Obama, obviously there are more important things going on in the world, but do any of you know the history of the tradition or anything?
Here's the email I got.
************************* HOW STUPID CAN YOU GET ???
I had heard about this but a picture is definitely worth 1000 words! God save us!!!
Respect Senator Barack Obama, Governor Bill Richardson, Senator Hillary Clinton and Ruth Harkin stand during the national anthem. Barack Hussein Obama's photo (that's his real name)......the article said he REFUSED TO NOT ONLY PUT HIS HAND ON HIS HEART DURING THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE, BUT REFUSED TO SAY THE PLEDGE.....how in the hell can a man like this expect to be our next Commander-in-Chief???? *************************
Now in the video he is not putting his hand over his heart, but I know that some religious traditions don't do that...besides, I just need something clever to come back with, because clearly, if THIS is the biggest problem with Democratic candidates, we're doing pretty darned good!
I hope this makes sense, I've got kids and dogs rampaging today and my thought processes are not what they might otherwise be!

1. Do we share a brother? |
|
I don't have info on your question, but am relieved that others have prodigal siblings.

2. Tell him that Obama's heart was stolen. |
|
Cheney needed a new one, and since Obama and Cheney were related it was an obvious choice.
It's smartass-y, and I'm all about smartass-y.

"...our next Commander-in-Chief"
If you're a civilian, he's not *YOUR* Commander-in-Chief. He's the President.
If you're in the military, he's both your Commander-in-Chief and your President.
I think this attitude indicates how militaristic this country has become.

6. That is an important distinction that has been blurred over the years |
|
I must come back to the media for the blame on that. If they would call the person in the office President and only President and let the military teach their people otherwise we wouldn't feel so militaristic.

4. If that's the same pic that was floating around a few days ago... |
|
...they weren't saying the pledge. Notice no one in the picture was facing the flag.

7. This is a completely ridiculous issue. |
|
No one is required to place their hands on any body-part during the national anthem. This is just dumb...
