There are seven pillars that own the GOP: Big Oil, Big Insurance, Big Media, Big Pharma, Big Agriculture, Big Defense, and the Religious Right.
They the the GOP leadership what they want, the GOP leadership tells the Repub congresscritters how the vote will be, and the Repub candidates have to figure out a way to spin the vote to their constituants.
GOP congresscritters were selected by their constituents to represent the Sevn Pillars to them, not represent the voters in Washington.
And the Seven Pillars have far too much to lose if Bush/Cheney gets out of power. And that's it.
