"2.6 kilograms of highly enriched uranium in Tehran or an out-of-control Pakistan"...?
"What is the greatest threat to the United States of America?"

Even though I am for Kucinich and Edwards...I must admit Biden's was the most knowledgeable and extraordinarily prescient, response on foreign policy--EVER!....

-- Oct.30 debate :

***Biden: "I would pledge to keep us safe. If you told me, Tim -- and this is not -- this is complicated stuff; we talk about this in isolation. The fact of the matter is, the Iranians may get 2.6 kilograms of highly-enriched uranium.

But the Pakistanis have hundreds -- thousands of kilograms of highly-enriched uranium. If by attacking Iran to stop them from getting 2.6 kilograms of highly-enriched uranium, the government in Pakistan falls, who has missiles already deployed with nuclear weapons on them that can already reach Israel, already reach India, then that's a bad bargain.

****Biden: "Presidents make wise decisions informed not by a vacuum in which they operate, by the situation they find themselves in the world."

"I will do all in my power to stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, but I will never take my eye off the ball. What is the greatest threat to the United States of America: 2.6 kilograms of highly enriched uranium in Tehran or an out-of-control Pakistan? It's not close.."

1. Here's more info on Pakistan from Biden if you're interested:
I posted this earlier but then the hoopla in the House began so it disappeared off the radar. Regardless of whom you support, paying attention to what Biden says will help us to understand the situation better.

Now more than ever, I really feel we need this guy leading us. The situation is too fragile right now.

Biden had already personally spoken with both Musharraf and Bhutto before Bush had Condi phone Musharraf. That's right, Bush didn't pick up the phone himself, he told Condi what to say and had her deliver the message.

3. Hi - Thank you for this post! I didn't see the scene you're referring to, but just
thinking about it makes me sad, too.

I agree that these issues are CRITICAL right now. This situation is fragile. I admire and really like Biden in all areas, but his experience and understanding of the big picture is crucial to our future. Without sounding too dramatic, it may be crucial to the world's future.

I've heard a couple of other candidates give their take on Pakistan, but in all sincerity, it seems as though they were merely repeating Biden's statements. I honestly don't feel any of the others have the depth of understanding that he does. This is not a slam against them, it's a result of his years of experience in this area.

Something interesting that Biden said was that the majority of the Pakistan people were in the "middle". Just normal folks like you and me. Biden is concerned that Musharraf's actions may push those in the middle toward the radical element in an attempt to fight back.

Can you imagine not having any news sources available? To live under martial law? It must be suffocating and terrifying.

A recent Biden convert said "Kuchinich is my philosophical choice, but Biden is my pragmatic choice." Well put, I thought.

Any info you want or any areas where you have questions about Biden please let us know. We believe so firmly in Joe that we LOVE to spread the word!

:hi:

5. Biden knows international affairs better than Condi--lots better.
Still determinedly undecided, but with world conditions being what they are, Biden is leading the pack for me so far.

6. To tell you the truth,
most people in the intelligence community, who aren't being muzzled, have a remarkably clear assessment of the true threats. They have issued reports saying things like more terrorists are being created by our actions than are being thwarted, but no one (in MSM) pays attention.

But yeah, I was thinking about his, and Dodd's, debate response when this thing blew.

9. I'd trust the Iranians
Iran/Persia has been a real country for 2500+ years. Pakistan is another one of those johnny-come-lately assemblages; the country was created from several Indian provinces in 1947. And like Iraq, it has never really gotten its act together.

Contrary to Zionist belief, Iran has no intention of blowing up Israel. Iran would get hit by the fallout of its own weapon. What sort of "victory" would that be? (And why has no one looked at a map and noticed that Iran is indeed east of Israel?)

Biden seems to actually be using his gray matter, instead of bowing to the corporate "defense" of oil.

And I think he'll be good at forming the sort of alliances we're seeing right here.

Edited to clarify I meant "you're right" about his ability to form alliances. And the 'wow' was because I hadn't thought of it that way.

Didn't want you to think I was being sarcastic at your statement that Biden's a smart guy. :hi:
