I am exhausted. Political events are taking their toll on me, and I find myself
tired and irritable no matter how much sleep I get. I keep slogging away at things and I feel like I am getting nowhere.

3. take a breather. get out and do something different
walk away from news and politics for a week or so. I have found that scaring the shit out of myself works. Go whitewater kayaking in some really cold water. that works for me and resets the "internal defrag button"

10. Yes, that is exactly how I feel. I used to be a news junkie, but now I just
can't bear to watch. I spend a lot of my surfing time at TMZ.com reading about popwreck Britney, and on TV I'll put on HSN or QVC. Shopping is politics neutral and oddly soothing.

6. I think a lot of us feel this way from time to time, I know I do. I have taken breaks from DU and
politics sometimes just to give myself breathing room to relax and recover. It helps me, maybe it would help you too?

Find something new to learn, or something that captures your imagination. Whatever fires a spark in your heart, follow it and try to find the joy and wonder you felt as a child.

7. Just take a break.
The basic principle is always: Take Care Of YOURSELF!

- Make sure you are getting your vitamins!
- Eat healthy! Plenty of veg!
- Take time for exercise!
- And do something fun that you enjoy -- just for fun! At least every week or if you can every day!

Grinding yourself down is NOT going to do you any good in the long run! :hi:

11. Sounds like you are allowing political events to infect you. STOP IT.
Only give what you can spend, unconditionally. NEVER allow yourself to be the object of something/one other than yourself.

Of course, being exhausted, myself,...I am not really in a position to advise you. I'm just sharing how I advise myself,...sometimes successfully, sometimes not.

It's okay to "QUIT" long enough to get your next breath, ya' know?

12. Find some balance. We are only so mighty. Day in day out bad news
would take a toll on anybody. Rest up and do more relaxing things than politics. We'll need you mighty come the 2008 election.
