Garth Cancels The View, Ellen |
|
Garth Brooks has canceled upcoming appearances on The View and The Ellen DeGeneres Show in support of the ongoing writers strike.
A statement from his publicist says, "This is the first time in many years that he has not done television in support of his music. His first appearance on television was to have been The Tonight Show, however the strike happened that day. We believe he is the first artist with product in the marketplace to not have the support of these appearances. Garth is proud of the position he has taken since he hopes to be a writer in the not too distant future."

2. Suprising. Garth is so self-serving and greedy. |
|
He even demanded that no radio station play any music from his new album until it came onto the market.
Note: I am not a fan of his at ALL!

3. My wife had some experience with him. He seemed shy and friendly. |
|
He seemed to be embarrassed by his fame.
My wife told him she doesn't care much for his music, but she likes him. She was concerned with his diet. He'd eat at Pancake Pantry every day. That's probably why he was a bit chunky.

21. I hope you're joking. |
|
Because that's as blatantly racist as anything Don Imus ever said.
Garth has only sold about a gazillion (brazillion?) records in his career. He deserves what he's gotten. Granted, I'm not too crazy about smashing perfectly good guitars, but he's had a helluva career, whether you like him or not. He's no Toby Keith.
So if you're serious, stick to stuff you know about.

18. I had a friend that worked in the local auditorium that would agree. |
|
They set up the stages and lighting. He's seen every show that comes through,I mean every show. But not Garth's. They were escorted out of the building before the show started. "No one gets to see the show for free" was the reason.

30. Garth also wante royalties on "used" CD's that were sold. |
|
I would remind him that GM/FORD/Chrysler/HONDA/TOYOTA/MAZDA/NISSAN, etc do NOT get one cent when their cars are sold "used" or "pre-owned".

We Shall Be Free Written by: Garth Brooks, Stephanie Davis -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This ain't comin' from no prophet Just an ordinary man When I close my eyes I see The way this world shall be When we all walk hand in hand
When the last child cries for a crust of bread When the last man dies for just words that he said When there's shelter over the poorest head We shall be free
When the last thing we notice is the color of skin And the first thing we look for is the beauty within When the skies and the oceans are clean again Then we shall be free
We shall be free We shall be free Stand straight, walk proud 'Cause we shall be free When we're free to love anyone we choose When this world's big enough for all different views When we all can worship from our own kind of pew Then we shall be free We shall be free
We shall be free Have a little faith Hold out 'Cause we shall be free
And when money talks for the very last time And nobody walks a step behind When there's only one race and that's mankind Then we shall be free
We shall be free We shall be free Stand straight, walk proud, have a little faith, hold out We shall be free
We shall be free We shall be free Stand straight, have a little faith
We shall be free

28. No, it's from the CD The Chase, released in 1992 |
|
I highly recommend him. He's a good singer, has heartfelt lyrics, and tasteful pop/country arrangements. I wish the country world would have been receptive to the subtle digs in his music.

9. The more I hear stuff about him, the more I respect him. He seems to have a very progressive streak. |
|
I never paid any attention to him when he first came on the scene -- I rather loathe modern "country music". But over the past few years there's been little news bits coming out now and then, that show him taking fairly enlightened stands on a number of issues.
He's firmly in my "good guy" column now, even if I'm unlikely to seek out his music.

10. Garth almost didn't sing the Star Spangled Banner at the 1993 Super Bowl |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-15-07 07:21 PM by rocknation
Garth: "It's almost time for the kickoff. Don't you think you'd better play my new music video now?"
NBC TV: "What? We aren't going to play your music video. Who told you that?"
Garth: "Well! Then I'm not going to sing your national anthem, so there!"
NBC: "Say, isn't that Jon Bon Jovi in the VIP section? Somebody go ask if he'll fill in...He said yes? Great! Buh-bye, Garth!"
Garth: "OH SAY CAN YOU SEEEEEE...."

15. He's always struck me as a pretty good guy |

I don't like a lot of his music but some of his songs are pretty good and have a pretty liberal message for a mainstream country act.

We shall be free was an amazing liberal song. The Thunder Rolls also is a brillant song that supported battered woman rights.
Garth gives more to charitable causes that a lot of rock stars put together.
