Was the GOP debate as desperate as the highlight reel makes it look?

I would've liked to have seen it, but I had class. I haven't seen ANY of the Democrats going after each other in a debate forum with such venom--Romney vs. Giuliani, for instance. And instead of showing off his own qualifications, Fred Thompson used his Youtube moment to SMEAR the others, for Crissake!

If the GOP's desperation is as bad as CNN's recap is making it look, we can all rest a bit easier come this spring.
